SIDDUR SIACH סִידּוּר שִׂיחַ

And They, being merciful, atone for wrongdoing and do not destroy;

וְהוּא רַחוּם יְכַפֵּר עָוֹן וְלֹא־יַשְׁחִית

vəhu rachum yəkhaper ‘avon vəlo-yashchit

again and again They turn Their anger back, and do not rouse all Their wrath.

וְהִרְבָּה לְהָשִׁיב אַפּוֹ וְלֹא־יָעִיר כָּל־חֲמָתוֹ:

vəhirbah ləhashiv apo vəlo-ya‘ir kol-chamato.

Ineffable, save. May the Sovereign answer us on the day we call.

יְיָ הוֹשִֽׁיעָה הַמֶּֽלֶךְ יַעֲנֵֽנוּ בְיוֹם־קָרְאֵֽנוּ:

Adonai hoshi‘ah hamelekh ya‘anenu vəyom-qarə’enu.

Bless The Ineffable, the Blessed One.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

elohenu melekh ha‘olam

who by Your word brings evenings,

אֲשֶׁר בִּדְבָרוֹ מַעֲרִיב עֲרָבִים

asher bidvaro ma‘ariv ‘aravim

in wisdom gates open,

בְּחָכְמָה פּוֹתֵֽחַ שְׁעָרִים

bəchokhmah poteach shə‘arim

and with understanding changes the times,

וּבִתְבוּנָה מְשַׁנֶּה עִתִּים

uvitvunah məshaneh ‘itim

and varies the seasons,

וּמַחֲלִיף אֶת־הַזְּ֒מַנִּים

umachalif et-hazəmanim

and arranges the stars

וּמְסַדֵּר אֶת־הַכּוֹכָבִים

umsader et-hakokhavim

in their watches,

בְּמִשְׁמְ֒רוֹתֵיהֶם

bəmishmərotehem

in the sky, by Your will.

בָּרָקִֽיעַ כִּרְצוֹנוֹ׃

baraqia‘ kirtzono.

creating day and light,

בּוֹרֵא יוֹם וָלָֽיְלָה

bore yom valayəlah

rolling away light before darkness,

גּוֹלֵל אוֹר מִפְּ֒נֵי חֹֽשֶׁךְ

golel or mipəne choshekh

and darkness before light,

וְחֹֽשֶׁךְ מִפְּ֒נֵי אוֹר

vəchoshekh mipəne or

and cause day to pass and brings night,

וּמַעֲבִיר יוֹם וּמֵבִיא לָֽיְלָה

uma‘avir yom umevi layəlah

and seperates day from night,

וּמַבְדִּיל בֵּין יוֹם וּבֵין לָֽיְלָה

umavdil ben yom uven layəlah

The Ineffable of Arrays is the Name.

יְיָ צְבָאוֹת שְׁמוֹ׃

Adonai tzəva’ot shəmo.

The Living and Enduring G-d

אֵל חַי וְקַיָּם

el chay vəqayam

will reign over us throughout eternity.

תָּמִיד יִמְלֹךְ עָלֵֽינוּ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד׃

tamid yimlokh ‘alenu lə‘olam va‘ed.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הַמַּעֲרִיב עֲרָבִים

barukh atah Adonai hama‘ariv ‘aravim

who brings on evenings.

הַמַּעֲרִיב עֲרָבִים אָמֵן

hama‘ariv ‘aravim amen

With eternal love for the House of Yisra’el

אַהֲבַת עוֹלָם בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל

ahavat ‘olam bet yisra’el

You have loved Your people.

עַמְּ֒ךָ אָהָֽבְתָּ

‘aməkha ahavəta

Torah and commandments,

תּוֹרָה וּמִצְוֹת

torah umitzvot

laws and judgements,

חֻקִּים וּמִשְׁפָּטִים

chuqim umishpaṭim

You have taught us.

אוֹתָֽנוּ לִמַּֽדְתָּ׃

otanu limadta.

Therefore, O The Ineffable our G-d,

עַל כֵּן יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

‘al ken Adonai elohenu

when we lie down and when we rise up,

בְּשָׁכְבֵֽנוּ וּבְקוּמֵֽנוּ

bəshakhəvenu uvqumenu

we shall discuss Your ordinances,

נָשִֽׂיחַ בְּחֻקֶּֽיךָ

nasiach bəchuqekha

and rejoice in the words of Your Torah

וְנִשְׂמַח בְּדִבְרֵי תוֹרָתֶֽךָ

vənismach bədivre toratekha

and in Your commandments throughout eternity.

וּבְמִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד׃

uvmitzvotekha lə‘olam va‘ed.

For they are our life and the length of our days,

כִּי הֵם חַיֵּֽינוּ וְאֹֽרֶךְ יָמֵֽינוּ

ki hem chayenu və’orekh yamenu

and we’ll meditate on them day and night.

וּבָהֶם נֶהְגֶּה יוֹמָם וָלָֽיְלָה׃

uvahem nehgeh yomam valayəlah.

And Your love—

וְאַהֲבָתְ֒ךָ

və’ahavatəkha

may we never be displaced from it throughout eternity.

אַל תָּסִיר מִמֶּֽנּוּ לְעוֹלָמִים׃

al tasir mimenu lə‘olamim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

who loves Your people Yisra’el.

אוֹהֵב עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל׃

ohev ‘amo yisra’el.

And you are to love The Ineffable your G-d

וְאָ֣הַבְתָּ֔ אֵ֖ת יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

və’áhavta et Adonai elohékha

with your whole heart, your whole soul,

בְּכׇל־לְבָבְךָ֥ וּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁךָ֖

bəkhol-ləvavəkha uvkhol-nafshəkha

and your whole might.

וּבְכׇל־מְאֹדֶֽךָ׃

uvkhol-mə’odekha.

And these words

וְהָי֞וּ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה

vəhayu hadəvarim ha’éleh

which I tell you today

אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָנֹכִ֧י מְצַוְּךָ֛ הַיּ֖וֹם

asher anokhi mətzavəkha hayom

shall be taken to your heart.

עַל־לְבָבֶֽךָ׃

‘al-ləvavekha.

And teach them to your descendants,

וְשִׁנַּנְתָּ֣ם לְבָנֶ֔יךָ

vəshinantam ləvanékha

and speak of them

וְדִבַּרְתָּ֖ בָּ֑ם

vədibarta bam

when you rest in your home,

בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ֤ בְּבֵיתֶ֙ךָ֙

bəshivtəkha bəvetékha

and when you go out on the way;

וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ֣ בַדֶּ֔רֶךְ

uvlekhtəkha vadérekh

when you lie down and when you rise up.

וּֽבְשׇׁכְבְּךָ֖ וּבְקוּמֶֽךָ׃

uvshokhbəkha uvqumekha.

Bind them as a sign upon your hand,

וּקְשַׁרְתָּ֥ם לְא֖וֹת עַל־יָדֶ֑ךָ

uqshartam lə’ot ‘al-yadékha

and as symbols between your eyes.

וְהָי֥וּ לְטֹטָפֹ֖ת בֵּ֥ין עֵינֶֽיךָ׃

vəhayu ləṭoṭafot ben ‘enekha.

Write them upon the doorposts of your house

וּכְתַבְתָּ֛ם עַל־מְזֻז֥וֹת בֵּיתֶ֖ךָ

ukhtavtam ‘al-məzuzot betékha

and on your gates.

וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ׃

uvish‘arekha.

And it shall be,

וְהָיָ֗ה

vəhayah

if you truly listen to My commandments

אִם־שָׁמֹ֤עַ תִּשְׁמְעוּ֙ אֶל־מִצְוֺתַ֔י

im-shamóa‘ tishmə‘u el-mitzvotay

which I

אֲשֶׁ֧ר אָנֹכִ֛י

asher anokhi

tell you today,

מְצַוֶּ֥ה אֶתְכֶ֖ם הַיּ֑וֹם

mətzaveh etkhem hayom

to love The Ineffable your G-d

לְאַהֲבָ֞ה אֶת־יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙

lə’ahavah et-Adonai elohekhem

and to serve The Ineffable with your whole heart

וּלְעׇבְד֔וֹ בְּכׇל־לְבַבְכֶ֖ם

ul‘ovdo bəkhol-ləvavkhem

and your whole soul,

וּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁכֶֽם׃

uvkhol-nafshəkhem.

then I shall give the rain of your land

וְנָתַתִּ֧י מְטַֽר־אַרְצְכֶ֛ם

vənatati məṭar-artzəkhem

in its season, the early rain and the late rain,

בְּעִתּ֖וֹ יוֹרֶ֣ה וּמַלְק֑וֹשׁ

bə‘ito yoreh umalqosh

and you shall gather in your grain,

וְאָסַפְתָּ֣ דְגָנֶ֔ךָ

və’asafta dəganékha

your wine and your oil.

וְתִירֹֽשְׁךָ֖ וְיִצְהָרֶֽךָ׃

vətiroshəkha vəyitzharekha.

And I shall give grass in your field

וְנָתַתִּ֛י עֵ֥שֶׂב בְּשָׂדְךָ֖

vənatati ‘ésev bəsadəkha

for your animals,

לִבְהֶמְתֶּ֑ךָ

livhemtékha

and you shall eat and be satisfied.

וְאָכַלְתָּ֖ וְשָׂבָֽעְתָּ׃

və’akhalta vəsava‘əta.

Take care for yourselves,

הִשָּֽׁמְר֣וּ לָכֶ֔ם

hishaməru lakhem

lest your heart be seduced, and you turn away

פֶּ֥ן יִפְתֶּ֖ה לְבַבְכֶ֑ם וְסַרְתֶּ֗ם

pen yifteh ləvavkhem vəsartem

and serve other gods

וַעֲבַדְתֶּם֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים

va‘avadtem elohim acherim

and bow down to them.

וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶ֖ם לָהֶֽם׃

vəhishtachavitem lahem.

Then the anger of The Ineffable will flare against you,

וְחָרָה אַף־יְיָ בָּכֶם

vəcharah af-Adonai bakhem

and the heavens be shut, and there be no rain,

וְעָצַר אֶת־הַשָּׁמַֽיִם וְלֹּא־יִהְיֶה מָטָר

və‘atzar et-hashamayim vəlo-yihyeh maṭar

and the ground not give its yield,

וְהָאֲדָמָה לֹא תִתֵּן אֶת־יְבוּלָהּ

vəha’adamah lo titen et-yəvulah

and you will soon be lost from the good land

וַאֲבַדְתֶּם מְהֵרָה מֵעַל הָאָֽרֶץ הַטֹּבָה

va’avadtem məherah me‘al ha’aretz haṭovah

which The Ineffable is giving you.

אֲשֶׁר יְיָ נֹתֵן לָכֶם

asher Adonai noten lakhem

So set these words of mine

וְשַׂמְתֶּם אֶת־דְּבָרַי אֵֽלֶּה

vəsamtem et-dəvaray eleh

upon your heart and upon your soul,

עַל־לְבַבְכֶם וְעַל־נַפְשְׁכֶם

‘al-ləvavkhem və‘al-nafshəkhem

and bind them as a sign upon your hand,

וּקְשַׁרְתֶּם אֹתָם לְאוֹת עַלּ־יֶּדְכֶם

uqshartem otam lə’ot ‘al-yedkhem

and as symbols between your eyes.

וְהָיוּ לְטוֹטָפֹת בֵּין עֵינֵיכֶם

vəhayu ləṭoṭafot ben ‘enekhem

And teach them to your descendants, to speak of them

וְלִמַּדְתֶּם אֹתָם אֶת־בְּנֵיכֶם לְדַבֵּר בָּם

vəlimadtem otam et-bənekhem lədaber bam

when you rest in your home,

בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ בְּבֵיתֶֽךָ

bəshivtəkha bəvetekha

and when you go out on the way;

וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ בַדֶּֽרֶךְ

uvlekhtəkha vaderekh

when you lie down and when you rise up.

וּבְשָׁכְבְּךָ וּבְקוּמֶֽךָ

uvshakhəbəkha uvqumekha

Write them upon the doorposts of your house

וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל־מְזוּזוֹת בֵּיתֶֽךָ

ukhtavtam ‘al-məzuzot betekha

and on your gates,

וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ

uvish‘arekha

so that your days may be many,

לְמַֽעַן יִרְבּוּ יְמֵיכֶם

ləma‘an yirbu yəmekhem

and the days of your children, upon the land

וִימֵי בְנֵיכֶם עַל הָאֲדָמָה

vime vənekhem ‘al ha’adamah

which The Ineffable swore to your ancestors to give them,

אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע יְיָ לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶם לָתֵת לָהֶם

asher nishba‘ Adonai la’avotekhem latet lahem

as the days of the heavens over the earth.

כִּימֵי הַשָּׁמַֽיִם עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ

kime hashamayim ‘al-ha’aretz

And The Ineffable said to Mosheh:

וַֽיֹּאמֶר יְיָ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר

vayo’mer Adonai el-mosheh le’mor

Speak to the children of Yisra’el, and say to them

דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם

daber el-bəne yisra’el və’amarta alehem

that they make themselves tassels

וְעָשׂוּ לָהֶם צִיצִת

və‘asu lahem tzitzit

on the corners of their garments, through their generations,

עַל־כַּנְפֵי בִגְדֵיהֶם לְדֹרֹתָם

‘al-kanfe vigdehem lədorotam

and set on the corner tassel a thread of blue.

וְנָתְנוּ עַל־צִיצִת הַכָּנָף פְּתִיל תְּכֵֽלֶת

vənatənu ‘al-tzitzit hakanaf pətil təkhelet

And it shall be your tassel:

וְהָיָה לָכֶם לְצִיצִת

vəhayah lakhem lətzitzit

you are to look at it

וּרְאִיתֶם אֹתוֹ

ur’item oto

and remember all the commandments of The Ineffable

וּזְכַרְתֶּם אֶת־כָּל־מִצְוֹת יְיָ

uzkhartem et-kol-mitzvot Adonai

and do them,

וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם

va‘asitem otam

and not go scouting after your own heart

וְלֹא תָתֻרוּ אַחֲרֵי לְבַבְכֶם

vəlo taturu achare ləvavkhem

and after your own eyes,

וְאַחֲרֵי עֵינֵיכֶם

və’achare ‘enekhem

which lead you astray.

אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּם זֹנִים אַחֲרֵיהֶם

asher-atem zonim acharehem

So that you remember

לְמַֽעַן תִּזְכְּרוּ

ləma‘an tizkəru

and do all my commandments,

וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֶת־כָּל־מִצְוֹתָי

va‘asitem et-kol-mitzvotay

and are holy to your G-d.

וִהְיִיתֶם קְדשִׁים לֵאלֹהֵיכֶם

vihyitem qədshim le’lohekhem

I am The Ineffable your G-d,

אֲנִי יְיָ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם

ani Adonai elohekhem

who brought you out of the land of Mitzrayim

אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵֽאתִי אֶתְכֶם מֵּאֶֽרֶץ מִצְרַֽיִם

asher hotze’ti etkhem me’eretz mitzrayim

to be your G-d.

לִהְיוֹת לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים

lihyot lakhem le’lohim

I am The Ineffable your G-d.

אֲנִי יְיָ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם

ani Adonai elohekhem

True and faithful is all of this, and it stands firm upon us:

וֶאֱמוּנָה כָּל זֹאת וְקַיָּם עָלֵֽינוּ

ve’emunah kol zo’t vəqayam ‘alenu

that The Ineffable is our G-d,

כִּי הוּא יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

ki hu Adonai elohenu

and there is none besides,

וְאֵין זוּלָתוֹ

və’en zulato

and that we, Yisra’el, are the people of The Ineffable.

וַאֲנַֽחְנוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמּוֹ

va’anachnu yisra’el ‘amo

Who ransoms us from the hand of rulers, our Sovereign,

הַפּוֹדֵֽנוּ מִיַּד מְלָכִים מַלְכֵּֽנוּ

hapodenu miyad məlakhim malkenu

who redeems us from the grip of every tyrant;

הַגּוֹאֲלֵֽנוּ מִכַּף כָּל הֶעָרִיצִים

hago’alenu mikaf kol he‘aritzim

the G-d who takes our part against our oppressors,

הָאֵל הַנִּפְרָע לָֽנוּ מִצָּרֵֽינוּ

ha’el hanifra‘ lanu mitzarenu

and repays in kind all who would take our life;

וְהַמְשַׁלֵּם גְּמוּל לְכָל אֹיְבֵי נַפְשֵֽׁנוּ

vəhaməshalem gəmul ləkhol oyəve nafshenu

who does great things past all searching out,

הָעֹשֶׂה גְדוֹלוֹת עַד אֵין חֵֽקֶר

ha‘oseh gədolot ‘ad en cheqer

wonders and marvels past all counting;

נִסִּים וְנִפְלָאוֹת עַד אֵין מִסְפָּר

nisim vənifla’ot ‘ad en mispar

who sets our soul among the living,

הַשָּׂם נַפְשֵֽׁנוּ בַּחַיִּים

hasam nafshenu bachayim

and has not let our foot give way;

וְלֹא נָתַן לַמּוֹט רַגְלֵֽנוּ

vəlo natan lamoṭ raglenu

who walks us over the heights of our enemies,

הַמַּדְרִיכֵֽנוּ עַל בָּמוֹת אֹיְבֵֽינוּ

hamadrikhenu ‘al bamot oyəvenu

and raised our horn above all who hate us;

וַיָּֽרֶם קַרְנֵֽנוּ עַל כָּל שׂוֹנְאֵֽינוּ

vayarem qarnenu ‘al kol sonə’enu

who worked for us wonders and requital upon Par’oh,

הָעֹֽשֶׂה לָּֽנוּ נִסִּים וּנְקָמָה בְּפַרְעֹה

ha‘oseh lanu nisim unqamah bəfar‘oh

signs and portents in the land of the children of Cham;

אוֹתוֹת וּמוֹפְתִים בְּאַדְמַת בְּנֵי חָם

otot umofətim bə’admat bəne cham

who struck down in fury every firstborn of Mitzrayim,

הַמַּכֶּה בְעֶבְרָתוֹ כָּל בְּכוֹרֵי מִצְרָֽיִם

hamakeh və‘evrato kol bəkhore mitzrayim

and brought the people Yisra’el out from among them, into lasting freedom;

וַיּוֹצֵא אֶת עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל מִתּוֹכָם לְחֵרוּת עוֹלָם

vayotze et ‘amo yisra’el mitokham ləcherut ‘olam

who brought their children between the walls of the Sea of Reeds,

הַמַּעֲבִיר בָּנָיו בֵּין גִּזְרֵי יַם סוּף

hama‘avir banav ben gizre yam suf

and sank their pursuers and their haters in the depths.

אֶת רוֹדְפֵיהֶם וְאֶת שׂוֹנְאֵיהֶם בִּתְהוֹמוֹת טִבַּע

et rodəfehem və’et sonə’ehem bithomot ṭiba‘

Their children saw that power;

וְרָאוּ בָנָיו גְּבוּרָתוֹ

vəra’u vanav gəvurato

they praised and gave thanks to the Name,

שִׁבְּחוּ וְהוֹדוּ לִשְׁמוֹ

shibəchu vəhodu lishmo

and willingly took that sovereignty upon themselves.

וּמַלְכוּתוֹ בְרָצוֹן קִבְּלוּ עֲלֵיהֶם

umalkhuto vəratzon qibəlu ‘alehem

Mosheh and the children of Yisra’el —

מֹשֶׁה וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל

mosheh uvne yisra’el

to You they answered with song, in great joy,

לְךָ עָנוּ שִׁירָה בְּשִׂמְחָה רַבָּה

ləkha ‘anu shirah bəsimchah rabah

and all of them said:

וְאָמְרוּ כֻלָּם

və’aməru khulam

Who is like You among the mighty, O Ineffable?

מִי כָמֹֽכָה בָּאֵלִם יְיָ

mi khamokhah ba’elim Adonai

Who is like You, majestic in holiness,

מִי כָּמֹֽכָה נֶאְדָּר בַּקֹּֽדֶשׁ

mi kamokhah ne’dar baqodesh

awesome in praises, working wonders?

נוֹרָא תְהִלֹּת עֹֽשֵׂה פֶלֶא

nora təhilot ‘oseh fele

Your sovereignty Your children saw

מַלְכוּתְךָ רָאוּ בָנֶֽיךָ

malkhutəkha ra’u vanekha

as You split the sea before Mosheh;

בּוֹקֵֽעַ יָם לִפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה

boqea‘ yam lifne mosheh

This is my G-d! they answered, and said:

זֶה אֵלִי עָנוּ וְאָמְרוּ

zeh eli ‘anu və’aməru

The Ineffable will reign for ever and ever.

יְיָ יִמְלֹךְ לְעֹלָם וָעֶד

Adonai yimlokh lə‘olam va‘ed

And it is said: The Ineffable has ransomed Ya’aqov

וְנֶאֱמַר כִּי פָדָה יְיָ אֶת יַעֲקֹב

vəne’emar ki fadah Adonai et ya‘aqov

and redeemed them from a hand stronger than their own.

וּגְאָלוֹ מִיַּד חָזָק מִמֶּֽנּוּ

ug’alo miyad chazaq mimenu

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

who redeemed Yisra’el.

גָּאַל יִשְׂרָאֵל

ga’al yisra’el

Lay us down, Ineffable our G-d, in peace,

הַשְׁכִּיבֵֽנוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ לְשָׁלוֹם

hashkivenu Adonai elohenu ləshalom

and raise us up, our Sovereign, to good life and peace.

וְהַעֲמִידֵֽנוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ לְחַיִּים טוֹבִים וּלְשָׁלוֹם

vəha‘amidenu malkenu ləchayim ṭovim ulshalom

Spread over us the shelter of Your peace,

וּפְרוֹשׂ עָלֵֽינוּ סֻכַּת שְׁלוֹמֶֽךָ

ufros ‘alenu sukat shəlomekha

and set us right with good counsel from before You,

וְתַקְּנֵֽנוּ בְּעֵצָה טוֹבָה מִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ

vətaqənenu bə‘etzah ṭovah miləfanekha

and save us swiftly, for the sake of Your Name.

וְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ מְהֵרָה לְמַֽעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ

vəhoshi‘enu məherah ləma‘an shəmekha

Shield us,

וְהָגֵן בַּעֲדֵֽנוּ

vəhagen ba‘adenu

and take from us enemy, plague, sword, famine and grief;

וְהָסֵר מֵעָלֵֽינוּ אוֹיֵב דֶּֽבֶר וְחֶֽרֶב וְרָעָב וְיָגוֹן

vəhaser me‘alenu oyev dever vəcherev vəra‘av vəyagon

take the adversary from before us and from behind us,

וְהָסֵר שָׂטָן מִלְּפָנֵֽינוּ וּמֵאַחֲרֵֽינוּ

vəhaser saṭan miləfanenu ume’acharenu

and hide us in the shadow of Your wings.

וּבְצֵל כְּנָפֶֽיךָ תַּסְתִּירֵֽנוּ

uvtzel kənafekha tastirenu

For You are the G-d who guards us and delivers us;

כִּי אֵל שׁוֹמְרֵֽנוּ וּמַצִּילֵֽנוּ אָֽתָּה

ki el shomərenu umatzilenu atah

for You are a gracious and compassionate Sovereign.

כִּי אֵל מֶֽלֶךְ חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם אָֽתָּה

ki el melekh chanun vərachum atah

Guard our going out and our coming in, for life and for peace,

וּשְׁמוֹר צֵאתֵֽנוּ וּבוֹאֵֽנוּ לְחַיִּים וּלְשָׁלוֹם

ushmor tze’tenu uvo’enu ləchayim ulshalom

from now and for ever.

מֵעַתָּה וְעַד עוֹלָם

me‘atah və‘ad ‘olam

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

who guards the people Yisra’el for ever.

שׁוֹמֵר עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל לָעַד

shomer ‘amo yisra’el la‘ad

May the great Name be magnified and made holy

יִתְגַּדַּל וְיִתְקַדַּשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא

yitgadal vəyitqadash shəmeh raba

in the world that was created as They willed;

בְּעָלְמָא דִּי בְרָא כִרְעוּתֵהּ

bə‘aləma di vəra khir‘uteh

and may that reign be brought about,

וְיַמְלִיךְ מַלְכוּתֵהּ וְיַצְמַח פּוּרְקָנֵהּ

vəyamlikh malkhuteh vəyatzmach purəqaneh

and Their deliverance flourish, and the anointing draw near,

וִיקָרֵב קֵץ מְשִׁיחֵהּ

viqarev qetz məshicheh

in your lifetime and in your days,

בְּחַיֵּיכוֹן וּבְיוֹמֵיכוֹן

bəchayekhon uvyomekhon

and in the life of all the house of Yisra’el,

וּבְחַיֵּי דְכָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל,

uvchaye dəkhol bet yisra’el,

soon and in a near time.

בַּעֲגָלָא וּבִזְמַן קָרִיב

ba‘agala uvizman qariv

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

və’imru amen.

May the great Name be blessed for ever and to all eternity.

יְהֵא שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא מְבָרַךְ לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמַיָּא

yəhe shəmeh raba məvarakh lə‘alam ul‘aləme ‘aləmaya

Blessed and praised, glorified, exalted and raised, honoured, lifted and lauded

יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִשְׁתַּבַּח וְיִתְפָּאַר וְיִתְרוֹמַם וְיִתְנַשֵּׂא וְיִתְהַדָּר וְיִתְעַלֶּה וְיִתְהַלָּל

yitbarakh vəyishtabach vəyitpa’ar vəyitromam vəyitnase vəyithadar vəyit‘aleh vəyithalal

be the Name of the Holy One,

שְׁמֵהּ דְקוּדְשָׁא, בְּרִיךְ הוּא

shəmeh dəqudəsha bərikh hu

beyond every blessing and song,

לְעֵֽלָּא מִן כָּל בִּרְכָתָא וְשִׁירָתָא,

lə‘ela min kol birkhata vəshirata,

praise and consolation

תֻּשְׁבְּחָתָא וְנֶחֱמָתָא,

tushbəchata vənechemata,

that is spoken in the world.

דַּאֲמִירָן בְּעָלְמָא,

da’amiran bə‘aləma,

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן,

və’imru amen,

My Sovereign, open my lips, and my mouth shall tell Your praise.

אֲדֹנָי שְׂפָתַי תִּפְתָּח וּפִי יַגִּיד תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ:

adonay səfatay tiftach ufi yagid təhilatekha.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, our G-d and G-d of our fathers and our mothers,

⢣ בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ⡇ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ וְאִמּוֹתֵֽינוּ

⢣ barukh atah ⡇ Adonai elohenu ve’lohe avotenu və’imotenu

G-d of Avraham, G-d of Yitzchak and G-d of Ya’aqov,

אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם אֱלֹהֵי יִצְחָק וֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב

elohe avraham elohe yitzchaq ve’lohe ya‘aqov

G-d of Sarah, G-d of Rivqah, G-d of Rachel and G-d of Le’ah,

אֱלֹהֵי שָׂרָה אֱלֹהֵי רִבְקָה אֱלֹהֵי רָחֵל וֵאלֹהֵי לֵאָה

elohe sarah elohe rivqah elohe rachel ve’lohe le’ah

the great, mighty and awesome G-d, G-d most high,

הָאֵל הַגָּדוֹל הַגִּבּוֹר וְהַנּוֹרָא אֵל עֶלְיוֹן

ha’el hagadol hagibor vəhanora el ‘elyon

who deals in kindness and possesses all,

גּוֹמֵל חֲסָדִים טוֹבִים וְקוֹנֵה הַכֹּל

gomel chasadim ṭovim vəqoneh hakol

who remembers the kindness of the fathers and the mothers,

וְזוֹכֵר חַסְדֵי אָבוֹת וְאִמָּהוֹת

vəzokher chasde avot və’imahot

and brings a redeemer to their children’s children, for the sake of that Name, in love.

וּמֵבִיא גוֹאֵל לִבְנֵי בְנֵיהֶם לְמַֽעַן שְׁמוֹ בְּאַהֲבָה:

umevi go’el livne vənehem ləma‘an shəmo bə’ahavah.

Sovereign who helps and saves and shields.

מֶֽלֶךְ עוֹזֵר וּמוֹשִֽׁיעַ וּמָגֵן:

melekh ‘ozer umoshia‘ umagen.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, shield of Avraham and help of Sarah.

⢣ בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ⡇ יְיָ מָגֵן אַבְרָהָם וְעֶזְרַת שָׂרָה:

⢣ barukh atah ⡇ Adonai magen avraham və‘ezrat sarah.

You are mighty for ever, my Sovereign, who gives life to the dead; great is Your saving power.

אַתָּה גִבּוֹר לְעוֹלָם אֲדֹנָי מְחַיֶּה מֵתִים אַתָּה רַב לְהוֹשִֽׁיעַ:

atah gibor lə‘olam adonay məchayeh metim atah rav ləhoshia‘.

You sustain the living in kindness, and give life to the dead in great mercy,

מְכַלְכֵּל חַיִּים בְּחֶֽסֶד מְחַיֵּה מֵתִים בְּרַחֲמִים רַבִּים

məkhalkel chayim bəchesed məchayeh metim bərachamim rabim

holding up those who fall, healing the sick, freeing the bound,

סוֹמֵךְ נוֹפְלִים וְרוֹפֵא חוֹלִים וּמַתִּיר אֲסוּרִים

somekh nofəlim vərofe cholim umatir asurim

and keeping faith with those who sleep in the dust.

וּמְקַיֵּם אֱמוּנָתוֹ לִישֵׁנֵי עָפָר,

umqayem emunato lishene ‘afar,

Who is like You, master of powers, and who compares to You —

מִי כָמֽוֹךָ בַּֽעַל גְּבוּרוֹת וּמִי דּֽוֹמֶה לָּךְ

mi khamokha ba‘al gəvurot umi domeh lakh

a Sovereign who brings death and life, and makes deliverance grow?

מֶֽלֶךְ מֵמִית וּמְחַיֶּה וּמַצְמִֽיחַ יְשׁוּעָה:

melekh memit umchayeh umatzmiach yəshu‘ah.

And You are faithful to give life to the dead.

וְנֶאֱמָן אַתָּה לְהַחֲיוֹת מֵתִים:

vəne’eman atah ləhachayot metim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who gives life to the dead.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מְחַיֵּה הַמֵּתִים:

barukh atah Adonai məchayeh hametim.

You are holy and Your Name is holy, and holy ones praise You every day.

אַתָּה קָדוֹשׁ וְשִׁמְךָ קָדוֹשׁ וּקְדוֹשִׁים בְּכָל יוֹם יְהַלְלֽוּךָ סֶּֽלָה:

atah qadosh vəshimkha qadosh uqdoshim bəkhol yom yəhaləlukha selah.

For You are a great and holy Sovereign.

כִּי אֵל מֶֽלֶךְ גָּדוֹל וְקָדוֹשׁ אָֽתָּה:

ki el melekh gadol vəqadosh atah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, the holy G-d.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הָאֵל הַקָּדוֹשׁ:

barukh atah Adonai ha’el haqadosh.

You give knowledge to humankind, and teach understanding to mortals.

אַתָּה חוֹנֵן לְאָדָם דַּֽעַת וּמְלַמֵּד לֶאֱנוֹשׁ בִּינָה:

atah chonen lə’adam da‘at umlamed le’enosh binah.

Grant us from Yourself wisdom, understanding and knowledge.

חָנֵּֽנוּ מֵאִתְּךָ חָכְמָה בִּינָה וָדָּעַת:

chanenu me’itəkha chokhmah binah vada‘at.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who gives knowledge.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ חוֹנֵן הַדָּֽעַת:

barukh atah Adonai chonen hada‘at.

Return us, our source, to Your Torah,

הֲשִׁיבֵֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ לְתוֹרָתֶֽךָ

hashivenu avinu lətoratekha

and draw us near, our Sovereign, to Your service,

וְקָרְבֵֽנוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ לַעֲבוֹדָתֶֽךָ

vəqarəvenu malkenu la‘avodatekha

and bring us back in whole return before You.

וְהַחֲזִירֵֽנוּ בִּתְשׁוּבָה שְׁלֵמָה לְפָנֶֽיךָ:

vəhachazirenu bitshuvah shəlemah ləfanekha.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who desires return.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הָרוֹצֶה בִּתְשׁוּבָה:

barukh atah Adonai harotzeh bitshuvah.

Forgive us, our source, for we have erred;

סְלַח לָֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ כִּי חָטָֽאנוּ

səlach lanu avinu ki chaṭa’nu

pardon us, our Sovereign, for we have transgressed;

מְחַל לָֽנוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ כִּי פָשָֽׁעְנוּ

məchal lanu malkenu ki fasha‘ənu

for You are a good and forgiving G-d.

כִּי אֵל טוֹב וְסַלָח אָֽתָּה:

ki el ṭov vəsalach atah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, gracious and abundant in forgiveness.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ חַנּוּן הַמַּרְבֶּה לִסְלֽוֹחַ:

barukh atah Adonai chanun hamarbeh lisloach.

Look on our affliction and take up our cause,

רְאֵה נָא בְעָנְיֵֽנוּ וְרִֽיבָה רִיבֵֽנוּ

rə’eh na və‘onyenu vərivah rivenu

and redeem us in whole redemption, swiftly, for the sake of Your Name,

וּגְאָלֵֽנוּ גְאוּלָה שְׁלֵמָה מְהֵרָה לְמַֽעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ

ug’alenu gə’ulah shəlemah məherah ləma‘an shəmekha

for You are a mighty redeeming G-d.

כִּי אֵל גּוֹאֵל חָזָק אָֽתָּה:

ki el go’el chazaq atah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, redeemer of Yisra’el.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ גּוֹאֵל יִשְׂרָאֵל:

barukh atah Adonai go’el yisra’el.

Heal us, Ineffable, and we shall be healed; save us, and we shall be saved,

רְפָאֵֽנוּ יְיָ וְנֵרָפֵא הוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה

rəfa’enu Adonai vənerafe hoshi‘enu vənivashe‘ah

for You are our praise.

כִּי תְהִלָּתֵֽנוּ אָֽתָּה

ki təhilatenu atah

Bring a full healing to all our sicknesses, our pains and our wounds,

וְהַעֲלֵה אֲרוּכָה וּמַרְפֵּא לְכָל תַּחֲלוּאֵֽינוּ וּלְכָל מַכְאוֹבֵֽינוּ וּלְכָל מַכּוֹתֵֽינוּ

vəha‘aleh arukhah umarpe ləkhol tachalu’enu ulkhol makh’ovenu ulkhol makotenu

for You are a Sovereign who heals, faithful and merciful.

כִּי אֵל מֶֽלֶךְ רוֹפֵא נֶאֱמָן וְרַחֲמָן אָֽתָּה:

ki el melekh rofe ne’eman vərachaman atah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who heals the sick of the people Yisra’el.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ רוֹפֵא חוֹלֵי עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל:

barukh atah Adonai rofe chole ‘amo yisra’el.

Bless this year for us, Ineffable our G-d, and all its kinds of produce, for good,

בָּרֵךְ עָלֵֽינוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ אֶת־הַשָּׁנָה הַזֹּאת וְאֶת־כָּל־מִינֵי תְבוּאָתָהּ לְטוֹבָה,

barekh ‘alenu Adonai elohenu et-hashanah hazo’t və’et-kol-mine təvu’atah ləṭovah,

and give upon the face of the earth, and satisfy us from Your goodness,

וְתֵן עַל־פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה וְשַׂבְּעֵֽנוּ מִטּוּבֶֽךָ

vəten ‘al-pəne ha’adamah vəsabə‘enu miṭuvekha

and bless our year like the good years, for blessing,

וּבָרֵךְ שְׁנוֹתֵנוּ כַּשָּׁנִים הַטּוֹבוֹת לִבְרָכָה

uvarekh shənotenu kashanim haṭovot livrakhah

for You are a good and generous G-d who blesses the years.

כִּי אֵל טוֹב וּמֵטִיב אַתָּה וּמְבָרֵךְ הַשָּׁנִים:

ki el ṭov umeṭiv atah umvarekh hashanim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who blesses the years.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מְבָרֵךְ הַשָּׁנִים:

barukh atah Adonai məvarekh hashanim.

Sound the great shofar for our freedom,

תְּקַע בְּשׁוֹפָר גָּדוֹל לְחֵרוּתֵֽנוּ

təqa‘ bəshofar gadol ləcherutenu

and raise a banner to gather in our exiles,

וְשָׂא נֵס לְקַבֵּץ גָּלֻיּוֹתֵֽינוּ

vəsa nes ləqabetz galuyotenu

and gather us together swiftly from the four corners of the earth to our land.

וְקַבְּצֵֽנוּ יַֽחַד מְהֵרָה מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפוֹת הָאָֽרֶץ לְאַרְצֵֽנוּ:

vəqabətzenu yachad məherah me’arba‘ kanfot ha’aretz lə’artzenu.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who gathers in the scattered of the people Yisra’el.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מְקַבֵּץ נִדְחֵי עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל:

barukh atah Adonai məqabetz nidche ‘amo yisra’el.

Restore our judges as at first, and our counsellors as at the beginning,

הָשִֽׁיבָה שׁוֹפְטֵֽינוּ כְּבָרִאשׁוֹנָה וְיוֹעֲצֵֽינוּ כְּבַתְּחִלָּה

hashivah shofəṭenu kəvari’shonah vəyo‘atzenu kəvatəchilah

and take from us sorrow and sighing,

וְהָסֵר מִמֶּֽנּוּ יָגוֹן וַאֲנָחָה

vəhaser mimenu yagon va’anachah

and reign over us swiftly, You alone, Ineffable, in kindness and mercy,

וּמְלוֹךְ עָלֵֽינוּ מְהֵרָה אַתָּה יְיָ לְבַדְּךָ בְּחֶֽסֶד וּבְרַחֲמִים

umlokh ‘alenu məherah atah Adonai ləvadəkha bəchesed uvrachamim

and make us just in justice and judgement.

וְצַדְּקֵֽנוּ בְּצֶֽדֶק וּבְמִשְׁפָּט:

vətzadəqenu bətzedeq uvmishpaṭ.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, Sovereign who loves justice and judgement.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מֶֽלֶךְ אֹהֵב צְדָקָה וּמִשְׁפָּט:

barukh atah Adonai melekh ohev tzədaqah umishpaṭ.

Let there be no hope for informers, and let all wickedness perish in an instant, and all the enemies of Your people be cut off swiftly,

וְלַמַּלְשִׁינִים אַל תְּהִי תִקְוָה וְכָל הַמִּינִים כְּרֶגַע יֹאבֵדוּ וְכָל אוֹיְבֵי עַמְּךָ מְהֵרָה יִכָּרֵֽתוּ,

vəlamalshinim al təhi tiqvah vəkhol haminim kərega‘ yo’vedu vəkhol oyəve ‘aməkha məherah yikaretu,

and the insolent swiftly uprooted, broken, thrown down, humbled and brought low, swiftly, in our days.

וְהַזֵּדִים מְהֵרָה תְעַקֵּר וּתְשַׁבֵּר וּתְמַגֵּר וּתְכַלֵם וְתַשְׁפִּילֵם וְתַכְנִיעֵם בִּמְהֵרָה בְיָמֵֽינוּ:

vəhazedim məherah tə‘aqer utshaber utmager utkhalem vətashpilem vətakhni‘em bimherah vəyamenu.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who breaks enemies and humbles the insolent.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ שׁוֹבֵר אֹיְבִים וּמַכְנִֽיעַ זֵדִים:

barukh atah Adonai shover oyəvim umakhnia‘ zedim.

On the just and on the faithful,

עַל־הַצַּדִּיקִים וְעַל־הַחֲסִידִים

‘al-hatzadiqim və‘al-hachasidim

and on the elders of the remnant of Your people, the House of Yisra’el,

וְעַל־זִקְנֵי שְׁאֵרִית עַמְּךָ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל

və‘al-ziqne shə’erit ‘aməkha bet yisra’el

and on the remnant of their scholars, and on the righteous stranger, and on us —

וְעַל־פְּלֵיטַת סוֹפְרֵיהֶם וְעַל־גֵּרֵי הַצֶּֽדֶק וְעָלֵֽינוּ

və‘al-pəleṭat sofərehem və‘al-gere hatzedeq və‘alenu

let Your mercy stir, Ineffable our G-d,

יֶהֱמוּ נָא רַחֲמֶֽיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

yehemu na rachamekha Adonai elohenu

and give a good reward to all who truly trust in Your Name.

וְתֵן שָׂכָר טוֹב לְכָל־הַבּוֹטְחִים בְּשִׁמְךָ בֶּאֱמֶת

vəten sakhar ṭov ləkhol-haboṭəchim bəshimkha be’emet

Set our portion with them, and let us never be shamed,

וְשִׂים חֶלְקֵֽנוּ עִמָּהֶם וּלְעוֹלָם לֹא נֵבוֹשׁ

vəsim chelqenu ‘imahem ul‘olam lo nevosh

for in You we have trusted, and on Your great kindness we have truly leaned.

כִּי בְךָ בָטָֽחְנוּ וְעַל חַסְדְּךָ הַגָּדוֹל בֶּאֱמֶת נִשְׁעָנְנוּ:

ki vəkha vaṭachənu və‘al chasdəkha hagadol be’emet nish‘anənu.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, support and assurance of the just.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מִשְׁעָן וּמִבְטָח לַצַּדִּיקִים:

barukh atah Adonai mish‘an umivṭach latzadiqim.

Return in mercy to Yerushalayim Your city, and dwell within it as You promised,

וְלִירוּשָׁלַֽיִם עִירְךָ בְּרַחֲמִים תָּשׁוּב וְתִשְׁכּוֹן בְּתוֹכָהּ כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ

vəlirushaláyim ‘irəkha bərachamim tashuv vətishkon bətokhah ka’asher dibarta

and rebuild it soon, in our days, a building for all time,

וּבְנֵה אוֹתָהּ בְּקָרוֹב בְּיָמֵֽינוּ בִּנְיַן עוֹלָם

uvneh otah bəqarov bəyamenu binyan ‘olam

and the throne of David Your servant —

וְכִסֵּא דָוִד עַבְדֶּךָ,

vəkhise david ‘avdekha,

establish it swiftly within.

מְהֵרָה לְתוֹכָהּ תָּכִין:

məherah lətokhah takhin.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who builds Yerushalayim.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ בּוֹנֵה יְרוּשָׁלָֽיִם:

barukh atah Adonai boneh yərushaláyim.

Make the offshoot of David Your servant flourish soon, and raise their horn in Your deliverance,

אֶת־צֶֽמַח דָּוִד עַבְדְּךָ מְהֵרָה תַצְמִֽיחַ וְקַרְנוֹ תָּרוּם בִּישׁוּעָתֶֽךָ,

et-tzemach david ‘avdəkha məherah tatzmiach vəqarno tarum bishu‘atekha,

for we have hoped for Your deliverance all day, and look for it.

כִּי לִישׁוּעָתְךָ קִוִּינוּ כָּל הַיּוֹם וּמְצַפִּים לִישׁוּעָה:

ki lishu‘atəkha qivinu kol hayom umtzapim lishu‘ah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who makes the horn of deliverance grow.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מַצְמִֽיחַ קֶֽרֶן יְשׁוּעָה:

barukh atah Adonai matzmiach qeren yəshu‘ah.

Merciful source, hear our voice, Ineffable our G-d,

אָב הָרַחֲמָן שְׁמַע קוֹלֵֽנוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

av harachaman shəma‘ qolenu Adonai elohenu

spare us and have mercy on us,

חוּס וְרַחֵם עָלֵֽינוּ

chus vərachem ‘alenu

and receive our prayer in mercy and favour,

וְקַבֵּל בְּרַחֲמִים וּבְרָצוֹן אֶת תְּפִלָּתֵֽנוּ,

vəqabel bərachamim uvratzon et təfilatenu,

for You are a G-d who hears prayers and pleading,

כִּי אֵל שׁוֹמֵֽעַ תְּפִלּוֹת וְתַחֲנוּנִים אָֽתָּה

ki el shomea‘ təfilot vətachanunim atah

and from before You, our Sovereign, do not turn us away empty,

וּמִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ רֵיקָם אַל תְּשִׁיבֵֽנוּ,

umiləfanekha malkenu reqam al təshivenu,

Be gracious to us, answer us, and hear our prayer,

חָנֵּֽנוּ וַעֲנֵֽנוּ וּשְׁמַע תְּפִלָתֵֽנוּ

chanenu va‘anenu ushma‘ təfilatenu

for You hear the prayer of every mouth of Your people Yisra’el, in mercy.

כִּי אַתָּה שׁוֹמֵֽעַ תְּפִלַּת כָּל פֶּה עַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרַחֲמִים:

ki atah shomea‘ təfilat kol peh ‘aməkha yisra’el bərachamim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who hears prayer.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ שׁוֹמֵֽעַ תְּפִלָּה:

barukh atah Adonai shomea‘ təfilah.

Take pleasure, Ineffable our G-d, in Your people Yisra’el, and attend to their prayer,

רְצֵה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ בְּעַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלִתְפִלָּתָם שְׁעֵה,

rətzeh Adonai elohenu bə‘aməkha yisra’el vəlitfilatam shə‘eh,

and return the service to the innermost place of Your house, and the fires of Yisra’el,

וְהָשֵׁב אֶת הָעֲבוֹדָה לִדְבִיר בֵּיתֶֽךָ וְאִשֵּׁי יִשְׂרָאֵל,

vəhashev et ha‘avodah lidvir betekha və’ishe yisra’el,

and receive their prayer swiftly, in love and favour,

וּתְפִלָּתָם מְהֵרָה בְּאַהֲבָה תְקַבֵּל בְּרָצוֹן

utfilatam məherah bə’ahavah təqabel bəratzon

and let the service of Your people Yisra’el always be a pleasure to You.

וּתְהִי לְרָצוֹן תָּמִיד עֲבוֹדַת יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמֶּֽךָ:

uthi ləratzon tamid ‘avodat yisra’el ‘amekha.

And let our eyes see Your return to Tziyon in mercy.

וְתֶחֱזֶֽינָה עֵינֵֽינוּ בְּשׁוּבְךָ לְצִיּוֹן בְּרַחֲמִים:

vətechezenah ‘enenu bəshuvəkha lətziyon bərachamim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who returns Your presence to Tziyon.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הַמַּחֲזִיר שְׁכִינָתוֹ לְצִיּוֹן:

barukh atah Adonai hamachazir shəkhinato lətziyon.

We give thanks to You, for You are The Ineffable our G-d and G-d of our ancestors, for ever;

⢣ מוֹדִים אֲנַֽחְנוּ לָךְ שָׁאַתָּה הוּא ⡇ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד

⢣ modim anachnu lakh sha’atah hu ⡇ Adonai elohenu ve’lohe avotenu lə‘olam va‘ed

Rock of our life, shield of our deliverance, You are the One, from age to age.

צוּר חַיֵּֽינוּ מָגֵן יִשְׁעֵֽנוּ אַתָּה הוּא לְדוֹר וָדוֹר

tzur chayenu magen yish‘enu atah hu lədor vador

We shall thank You and tell Your praise —

נוֹדֶה לְּךָ וּנְסַפֵּר תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ

nodeh ləkha unsaper təhilatekha

for our life, held in Your hand,

עַל חַיֵּֽינוּ הַמְּסוּרִים בְּיָדֶֽךָ

‘al chayenu haməsurim bəyadekha

and for our souls, entrusted to You,

וְעַל־נִשְׁמוֹתֵֽינוּ הַפְּקוּדוֹת לָךְ

və‘al-nishmotenu hapəqudot lakh

and for Your wonders that are with us every day,

וְעַל־נִסֶּֽיךָ שֶׁבְּכָל־יוֹם עִמָּֽנוּ

və‘al-nisekha shebəkhol-yom ‘imanu

and for Your marvels and Your goodness at every hour,

וְעַל־נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ וְטוֹבוֹתֶֽיךָ שֶׁבְּכָל־עֵת,

və‘al-niflə’otekha vəṭovotekha shebəkhol-‘et,

evening, morning and noon.

עֶֽרֶב וָבֹֽקֶר וְצָהֳרָֽיִם,

‘erev vavoqer vətzohorayim,

You are the good, whose mercy has never ended,

הַטּוֹב כִּי לֹא־כָלוּ רַחֲמֶֽיךָ

haṭov ki lo-khalu rachamekha

and the merciful, whose kindnesses have never ceased,

וְהַמְרַחֵם כִּי לֹא־תַֽמּוּ חֲסָדֶֽיךָ,

vəhamərachem ki lo-tamu chasadekha,

for we have always hoped in You.

כִּי מֵעוֹלָם קִוִּינוּ לָךְ:

ki me‘olam qivinu lakh.

And for all of it, may Your Name be blessed, raised and lifted up, our Sovereign, always, for ever and ever.

וְעַל־כֻּלָּם יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִתְרוֹמַם וְיִתְנַשֵׂא שִׁמְךָ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ תָּמִיד לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:

və‘al-kulam yitbarakh vəyitromam vəyitnase shimkha malkenu tamid lə‘olam va‘ed.

And all the living shall thank You,

וְכֹל הַחַיִּים יוֹדֽוּךָ סֶּֽלָה

vəkhol hachayim yodukha selah

and praise and bless Your great Name in truth, for ever,

וִיהַלְלוּ וְיבָרְכוּ אֶת־שִׁמְךָ הַגָּדוֹל בְּאֱמֶת לְעוֹלָם

vihaləlu vəyvarəkhu et-shimkha hagadol bə’emet lə‘olam

for You are good — the G-d of our deliverance and our help, the good G-d.

כִּי טוֹב הָאֵל יְשׁוּעָתֵֽנוּ וְעֶזְרָתֵֽנוּ סֶֽלָה הָאֵל הַטּוֹב:

ki ṭov ha’el yəshu‘atenu və‘ezratenu selah ha’el haṭov.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, whose Name is good and to whom thanks are fitting.

⢣ בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ⡇ יְיָ הַטּוֹב שִׁמְךָ וּלְךָ נָאֶה לְהוֹדוֹת:

⢣ barukh atah ⡇ Adonai haṭov shimkha ulkha na’eh ləhodot.

Set peace, goodness and blessing, life, grace, kindness and mercy upon us and upon all Your people Yisra’el.

שִׂים שָׁלוֹם טוֹבָה וּבְרָכָה חַיִים חֵן וָחֶֽסֶד וְרַחֲמִים עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמֶּֽךָ,

sim shalom ṭovah uvrakhah chayim chen vachesed vərachamim ‘alenu və‘al kol-yisra’el ‘amekha,

Bless us, our source, all of us as one, in the light of Your face;

בָּרְכֵֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ כֻּלָּֽנוּ כְּאֶחָד בְּאוֹר פָּנֶֽיךָ

barəkhenu avinu kulanu kə’echad bə’or panekha

for in the light of Your face You gave us, Ineffable our G-d,

כִּי בְאוֹר פָּנֶֽיךָ נָתַֽתָּ לָּֽנוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

ki və’or panekha natata lanu Adonai elohenu

a Torah of life and the love of kindness, justice and blessing, mercy, life and peace.

תּוֹרַת חַיִּים וְאַהֲבַת חֶֽסֶד וּצְדָקָה וּבְרָכָה וְרַחֲמִים וְחַיִּים וְשָׁלוֹם,

torat chayim və’ahavat chesed utzdaqah uvrakhah vərachamim vəchayim vəshalom,

And may it be good in Your eyes to bless us, and to bless all Your people Yisra’el,

וְטוֹב יִהְיֶה בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ לְבָרְכֵֽנוּ וּלְבָרֵךְ אֶת־כָּל־עַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל

vəṭov yihyeh bə‘enekha ləvarəkhenu ulvarekh et-kol-‘aməkha yisra’el

at every time and in every hour, with Your peace.

בְּכָל־עֵת וּבְכָל־שָׁעָה בִּשְׁלוֹמֶֽךָ.

bəkhol-‘et uvkhol-sha‘ah bishlomekha

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who blesses the people Yisra’el with peace.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הַמְבָרֵךְ אֶת־עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּשָּׁלוֹם:

barukh atah Adonai haməvarekh et-‘amo yisra’el bashalom.

May the words of my mouth and the thought of my heart be acceptable before You, Ineffable, my rock and my redeemer.

יִהְיוּ לְרָצוֹן אִמְרֵי פִי וְהֶגְיוֹן לִבִּי לְפָנֶֽיךָ יְיָ צוּרִי וְגוֹאֲלִי:

yihyu ləratzon imre fi vəhegyon libi ləfanekha Adonai tzuri vəgo’ali.

My G-d, guard my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking deceit.

אֱלֹהַי נְצוֹר לְשׁוֹנִי מֵרָע וּשְׂפָתַי מִדַּבֵּר מִרְמָה

elohay nətzor ləshoni mera‘ usfatay midaber mirmah

To those who curse me let my soul be silent, and let my soul be as dust to all.

וְלִמְקַלְלַי נַפְשִׁי תִדּוֹם וְנַפְשִׁי כֶּעָפָר לַכֹּל תִּהְיֶה

vəlimqallay nafshi tidom vənafshi ke‘afar lakol tihyeh

Open my heart to Your Torah, and let my soul pursue Your commandments.

פְּתַח לִבִּי בְּתוֹרָתֶֽךָ וְאַחֲרֵי מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ תִּרְדּוֹף נַפְשִׁי

pətach libi bətoratekha və’achare mitzvotekha tirdof nafshi

And all who rise against me and plan harm — swiftly undo their counsel and spoil their design.

וְכָל הַקָמִים וְהַחוֹשְׁבִים עָלַי רָעָה מְהֵרָה הָפֵר עֲצָתָם וְקַלְקֵל מַחֲשַׁבְתָּם:

vəkhol haqamim vəhachoshəvim ‘alay ra‘ah məherah hafer ‘atzatam vəqalqel machashavtam.

Act for the sake of Your Name;

עֲשֵׂה לְמַֽעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ,

‘aseh ləma‘an shəmekha,

act for the sake of Your right hand;

עֲשֵׂה לְמַֽעַן יְמִינֶֽךָ,

‘aseh ləma‘an yəminekha,

act for the sake of Your Torah;

עֲשֵׂה לְמַֽעַן תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ,

‘aseh ləma‘an toratekha,

act for the sake of Your holiness.

עֲשֵׂה לְמַֽעַן קְדֻשָּׁתֶֽךָ.

‘aseh ləma‘an qədushatekha

So that those You love may be delivered, let Your right hand save, and answer me.

לְמַֽעַן יֵחָלְצוּן יְדִידֶֽיךָ הוֹשִֽׁיעָה יְמִינְךָ וַעֲנֵֽנִי:

ləma‘an yechalətzun yədidekha hoshi‘ah yəminəkha va‘aneni.

May the words of my mouth and the thought of my heart be acceptable before You, Ineffable, my rock and my redeemer.

יִהְיוּ לְרָצוֹן אִמְרֵי פִי וְהֶגְיוֹן לִבִּי לְפָנֶֽיךָ יְיָ צוּרִי וְגוֹאֲלִי:

yihyu ləratzon imre fi vəhegyon libi ləfanekha Adonai tzuri vəgo’ali.

May the One who makes peace in the heights

עֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו

‘oseh shalom bimromav

make peace for us

הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵֽינוּ

hu ya‘aseh shalom ‘alenu

and for all Yisra’el

וְעַל כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל

və‘al kol-yisra’el

and for all who dwell on earth.

וְעַל כָּל יוֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל

və‘al kol yoshəve tevel

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

və’imru amen.

May the great Name be magnified and made holy

יִתְגַּדַּל וְיִתְקַדַּשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא

yitgadal vəyitqadash shəmeh raba

in the world that was created as They willed;

בְּעָלְמָא דִּי בְרָא כִרְעוּתֵהּ

bə‘aləma di vəra khir‘uteh

and may that reign be brought about,

וְיַמְלִיךְ מַלְכוּתֵהּ וְיַצְמַח פּוּרְקָנֵהּ

vəyamlikh malkhuteh vəyatzmach purəqaneh

and Their deliverance flourish, and the anointing draw near,

וִיקָרֵב קֵץ מְשִׁיחֵהּ

viqarev qetz məshicheh

in your lifetime and in your days,

בְּחַיֵּיכוֹן וּבְיוֹמֵיכוֹן

bəchayekhon uvyomekhon

and in the life of all the house of Yisra’el,

וּבְחַיֵּי דְכָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל,

uvchaye dəkhol bet yisra’el,

soon and in a near time.

בַּעֲגָלָא וּבִזְמַן קָרִיב

ba‘agala uvizman qariv

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

və’imru amen.

May the great Name be blessed for ever and to all eternity.

יְהֵא שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא מְבָרַךְ לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמַיָּא

yəhe shəmeh raba məvarakh lə‘alam ul‘aləme ‘aləmaya

Blessed and praised, glorified, exalted and raised, honoured, lifted and lauded

יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִשְׁתַּבַּח וְיִתְפָּאַר וְיִתְרוֹמַם וְיִתְנַשֵּׂא וְיִתְהַדָּר וְיִתְעַלֶּה וְיִתְהַלָּל

yitbarakh vəyishtabach vəyitpa’ar vəyitromam vəyitnase vəyithadar vəyit‘aleh vəyithalal

be the Name of the Holy One,

שְׁמֵהּ דְקוּדְשָׁא, בְּרִיךְ הוּא

shəmeh dəqudəsha bərikh hu

beyond every blessing and song,

לְעֵֽלָּא מִן כָּל בִּרְכָתָא וְשִׁירָתָא,

lə‘ela min kol birkhata vəshirata,

praise and consolation

תֻּשְׁבְּחָתָא וְנֶחֱמָתָא,

tushbəchata vənechemata,

that is spoken in the world.

דַּאֲמִירָן בְּעָלְמָא,

da’amiran bə‘aləma,

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן,

və’imru amen,

May the prayers and the pleas of all the house of Yisra’el be received

תִּתְקַבֵּל צְלוֹתְהוֹן וּבָעוּתְהוֹן דְּכָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל

titqabel tzəlotəhon uva‘utəhon dəkhol bet yisra’el

before their source in heaven.

קֳדָם אֲבוּהוֹן דִּי בִשְׁמַיָּא

qodam avuhon di vishmaya

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

və’imru amen.

May there be great peace from heaven, and life,

יְהֵא שְׁלָמָא רַבָּא מִן שְׁמַיָּא וְחַיִּים

yəhe shəlama raba min shəmaya vəchayim

upon us and upon all Yisra’el.

עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל

‘alenu və‘al kol yisra’el

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

və’imru amen.

May the One who makes peace in the heights

עוֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו

‘oseh shalom bimromav

make peace for us

הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵֽינוּ

hu ya‘aseh shalom ‘alenu

and for all Yisra’el

וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל

və‘al kol yisra’el

and for all who dwell on earth.

וְעַל כָּל יוֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל

və‘al kol yoshəve tevel

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

və’imru amen.

It is on us to praise the Sovereign of all,

עָלֵֽינוּ לְשַׁבֵּֽחַ לַאֲדוֹן הַכֹּל

‘alenu ləshabeach la’adon hakol

to give greatness to the One who formed creation,

לָתֵת גְּדֻלָּה לְיוֹצֵר בְּרֵאשִׁית

latet gədulah ləyotzer bəre’shit

who did not make us like the nations of the lands

שֶׁלֹּא עָשָֽׂנוּ כְּגוֹיֵי הָאֲרָצוֹת

shelo ‘asanu kəgoye ha’aratzot

nor set us like the families of the earth;

וְלֹא שָׂמָֽנוּ כְּמִשְׁפְּחוֹת הָאֲדָמָה

vəlo samanu kəmishpəchot ha’adamah

who did not make our portion like theirs,

שֶׁלֹּא שָׂם חֶלְקֵֽנוּ כָּהֶם

shelo sam chelqenu kahem

nor our lot like all their multitude.

וְגוֹרָלֵֽנוּ כְּכָל הֲמוֹנָם:

vəgoralenu kəkhol hamonam.

But we bend the knee and bow and give thanks

⢣ וַאֲנַֽחְנוּ כּוֹרְעִים וּמִשְׁתַּחֲוִים וּמוֹדִים

⢣ va’anachnu korə‘im umishtachavim umodim

before the Sovereign over sovereigns, the Holy One, blessed are They,

לִפְנֵי מֶֽלֶךְ מַלְכֵי הַמְּלָכִים ⡇ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא,

lifne melekh malkhe haməlakhim ⡇ haqadosh barukh hu,

who stretches out the heavens and founds the earth,

שֶׁהוּא נוֹטֶה שָׁמַֽיִם וְיוֹסֵד אָֽרֶץ,

shehu noṭeh shamayim vəyosed aretz,

whose glorious seat is in the heavens above,

וּמוֹשַׁב יְקָרוֹ בַּשָּׁמַֽיִם מִמַּֽעַל,

umoshav yəqaro bashamayim mima‘al,

and the Presence of whose strength is in the highest heights.

וּשְׁכִינַת עֻזּוֹ בְּגָבְהֵי מְרוֹמִים:

ushkhinat ‘uzo bəgovhe məromim.

They are our G-d; there is no other.

הוּא אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ אֵין עוֹד:

hu elohenu en ‘od.

In truth, our Sovereign; there is none besides Them,

אֱמֶת מַלְכֵּֽנוּ אֶֽפֶס זוּלָתוֹ

emet malkenu efes zulato

as it is written in Their Torah:

כַּכָּתוּב בְּתוֹרָתוֹ

kakatuv bətorato

And you are to know this day and take it to heart

וְיָדַעְתָּ הַיּוֹם וַהֲשֵׁבֹתָ אֶל לְבָבֶֽךָ

vəyada‘ta hayom vahashevota el ləvavekha

that The Ineffable is G-d in the heavens above and on the earth below; there is no other.

כִּי יְיָ הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים בַּשָּׁמַֽיִם מִמַּֽעַל וְעַל הָאָֽרֶץ מִתָּֽחַת אֵין עוֹד:

ki Adonai hu ha’elohim bashamayim mima‘al və‘al ha’aretz mitachat en ‘od.

And so we hope in You, Ineffable our G-d,

עַל כֵּן נְקַוֶּה לְךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

‘al ken nəqaveh ləkha Adonai elohenu

to see soon the splendour of Your strength,

לִרְאוֹת מְהֵרָה בְּתִפְאֶֽרֶת עֻזֶּֽךָ

lir’ot məherah bətif’eret ‘uzekha

to sweep the idols from the earth,

לְהַעֲבִיר גִּלּוּלִים מִן הָאָֽרֶץ

ləha‘avir gilulim min ha’aretz

and the false gods wholly cut away;

וְהָאֱלִילִים כָּרוֹת יִכָּרֵתוּן

vəha’elilim karot yikaretun

to mend the world in the reign of Shaddai,

לְתַקֵּן עוֹלָם בְּמַלְכוּת שַׁדַּי

lətaqen ‘olam bəmalkhut shaday

when all flesh and blood will call on Your Name,

וְכָל בְּנֵי בָשָׂר יִקְרְאוּ בִשְׁמֶֽךָ,

vəkhol bəne vasar yiqrə’u vishmekha,

and every wrongdoer on earth will turn to You.

לְהַפְנוֹת אֵלֶֽיךָ כָּל רִשְׁעֵי אָֽרֶץ:

ləhafnot elekha kol rish‘e aretz.

All who dwell on earth will recognise and know

יַכִּֽירוּ וְיֵדְעוּ כָּל יוֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל

yakiru vəyedə‘u kol yoshəve tevel

that to You every knee must bend and every tongue swear.

כִּי לְךָ תִכְרַע כָּל בֶּֽרֶךְ תִּשָּׁבַע כָּל לָשׁוֹן:

ki ləkha tikhra‘ kol berekh tishava‘ kol lashon.

Before You, Ineffable our G-d, they will bend and fall,

לְפָנֶֽיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ יִכְרְעוּ וְיִפֹּֽלוּ,

ləfanekha Adonai elohenu yikhrə‘u vəyipolu,

and give honour to the glory of Your Name.

וְלִכְבוֹד שִׁמְךָ יְקָר יִתֵּֽנוּ:

vəlikhvod shimkha yəqar yitenu.

All of them will take on the yoke of Your sovereignty,

וִיקַבְּלוּ כֻלָּם אֶת עֹל מַלְכוּתֶֽךָ,

viqabəlu khulam et ‘ol malkhutekha,

and You will reign over them soon, for ever and ever.

וְתִמְלֹךְ עֲלֵיהֶם מְהֵרָה לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:

vətimlokh ‘alehem məherah lə‘olam va‘ed.

For the sovereignty is Yours,

כִּי הַמַּלְכוּת שֶׁלְּךָ הִיא

ki hamalkhut sheləkha hi

and to all eternity You will reign in glory,

וּלְעֽוֹלְמֵי עַד תִּמְלוֹךְ בְּכָבוֹד,

ul‘oləme ‘ad timlokh bəkhavod,

as it is written in Your Torah:

כַּכָּתוּב בְּתוֹרָתֶֽךָ

kakatuv bətoratekha

The Ineffable will reign for ever and ever.

יְיָ יִמְלֹךְ לְעֹלָם וָעֶד:

Adonai yimlokh lə‘olam va‘ed.

And it is said:

וְנֶאֱמַר

vəne’emar

And The Ineffable will be Sovereign over all the earth;

וְהָיָה יְיָ לְמֶֽלֶךְ עַל כָּל הָאָֽרֶץ

vəhayah Adonai ləmelekh ‘al kol ha’aretz

on that day The Ineffable will be one, and Their Name one.

בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא יִהְיֶה יְיָ אֶחָד וּשְׁמוֹ אֶחָד:

bayom hahu yihyeh Adonai echad ushmo echad.

Do not fear sudden terror,

אַל תִּירָא מִפַּֽחַד פִּתְאֹם

al tira mipachad pit’om

nor the ruin of the wicked when it comes.

וּמִשֹּׁאַת רְשָׁעִים כִּי תָבֹא:

umisho’at rəsha‘im ki tavo.

Take counsel — it will be broken;

עֻֽצוּ עֵצָה וְתֻפָר

‘utzu ‘etzah vətufar

speak a word — it will not stand; for G-d is with us.

דַּבְּרוּ דָבָר וְלֹא יָקוּם כִּי עִמָּֽנוּ אֵל:

dabəru davar vəlo yaqum ki ‘imanu el.

To your old age I am the One,

וְעַד זִקְנָה אֲנִי הוּא

və‘ad ziqnah ani hu

and to your grey hairs I will carry you.

וְעַד שֵׂיבָה אֲנִי אֶסְבֹּל:

və‘ad sevah ani esbol.

I made you and I will bear you;

אֲנִי עָשִֽׂיתִי וַאֲנִי אֶשָּׂא

ani ‘asiti va’ani esa

I will carry, and I will save.

וַאֲנִי אֶסְבֹּל וַאֲמַלֵּט:

va’ani esbol va’amaleṭ.

May the great Name be magnified and made holy

יִתְגַּדַּל וְיִתְקַדַּשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא

yitgadal vəyitqadash shəmeh raba

in the world that was created as They willed;

בְּעָלְמָא דִּי בְרָא כִרְעוּתֵהּ

bə‘aləma di vəra khir‘uteh

and may that reign be brought about,

וְיַמְלִיךְ מַלְכוּתֵהּ וְיַצְמַח פּוּרְקָנֵהּ

vəyamlikh malkhuteh vəyatzmach purəqaneh

and Their deliverance flourish, and the anointing draw near,

וִיקָרֵב קֵץ מְשִׁיחֵהּ

viqarev qetz məshicheh

in your lifetime and in your days,

בְּחַיֵּיכוֹן וּבְיוֹמֵיכוֹן

bəchayekhon uvyomekhon

and in the life of all the house of Yisra’el,

וּבְחַיֵּי דְכָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל,

uvchaye dəkhol bet yisra’el,

soon and in a near time.

בַּעֲגָלָא וּבִזְמַן קָרִיב

ba‘agala uvizman qariv

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

və’imru amen.

May the great Name be blessed for ever and to all eternity.

יְהֵא שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא מְבָרַךְ לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמַיָּא

yəhe shəmeh raba məvarakh lə‘alam ul‘aləme ‘aləmaya

Blessed and praised, glorified, exalted and raised, honoured, lifted and lauded

יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִשְׁתַּבַּח וְיִתְפָּאַר וְיִתְרוֹמַם וְיִתְנַשֵּׂא וְיִתְהַדָּר וְיִתְעַלֶּה וְיִתְהַלָּל

yitbarakh vəyishtabach vəyitpa’ar vəyitromam vəyitnase vəyithadar vəyit‘aleh vəyithalal

be the Name of the Holy One,

שְׁמֵהּ דְקוּדְשָׁא, בְּרִיךְ הוּא

shəmeh dəqudəsha bərikh hu

beyond every blessing and song,

לְעֵֽלָּא מִן כָּל בִּרְכָתָא וְשִׁירָתָא,

lə‘ela min kol birkhata vəshirata,

praise and consolation

תֻּשְׁבְּחָתָא וְנֶחֱמָתָא,

tushbəchata vənechemata,

that is spoken in the world.

דַּאֲמִירָן בְּעָלְמָא,

da’amiran bə‘aləma,

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן,

və’imru amen,

May there be great peace from heaven, and life,

יְהֵא שְׁלָמָא רַבָּא מִן שְׁמַיָּא וְחַיִּים

yəhe shəlama raba min shəmaya vəchayim

upon us and upon all Yisra’el.

עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל

‘alenu və‘al kol yisra’el

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

May the One who makes peace in the heights

עוֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו

‘oseh shalom bimromav

make peace for us

הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵֽינוּ

hu ya‘aseh shalom ‘alenu

and for all Yisra’el

וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל

və‘al kol yisra’el

and for all who dwell on earth.

וְעַל כָּל יוֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל

və‘al kol yoshəve tevel

I give thanks before You,

living and enduring Sovereign,

that You returned my soul to me

in mercy — great is Your faithfulness.

who takes sleep from my eyes, and slumber from my eyelids.

הַמַּעֲבִיר שֵׁנָה מֵעֵינָי וּתְנוּמָה מֵעַפְעַפָּי

hama‘avir shenah me‘enay utnumah me‘af‘apay

May it be Your will, Ineffable our G-d and G-d of our ancestors,

וִיהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ

vihi ratzon miləfanekha Adonai elohenu ve’lohe avotenu

to make us at home in Your Torah,

שֶׁתַּרְגִּילֵֽנוּ בְּתוֹרָתֶֽךָ

shetargilenu bətoratekha

and to bind us to Your commandments.

וְדַבְּקֵֽנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ

vədabəqenu bəmitzvotekha

Do not bring us into the grip of error,

וְאַל תְּבִיאֵֽנוּ לֹא לִידֵי חֵטְא

və’al təvi’enu lo lide cheṭ

nor of transgression and wrongdoing,

וְלֹא לִידֵי עֲבֵרָה וְעָוֹן

vəlo lide ‘averah və‘avon

nor of trial,

וְלֹא לִידֵי נִסָּיוֹן

vəlo lide nisayon

nor of disgrace.

וְלֹא לִידֵי בִזָּיוֹן

vəlo lide vizayon

Let the impulse to evil not rule us,

וְאַל יִשְׁלֹט בָּֽנוּ יֵֽצֶר הָרָע

və’al yishloṭ banu yetzer hara‘

and keep us far from a bad person and a bad companion.

וְהַרְחִיקֵֽנוּ מֵאָדָם רָע וּמֵחָבֵר רָע

vəharchiqenu me’adam ra‘ umechaver ra‘

Bind us to the impulse to good, and to good deeds,

וְדַבְּקֵֽנוּ בְּיֵֽצֶר הַטּוֹב וּבְמַעֲשִׂים טוֹבִים

vədabəqenu bəyetzer haṭov uvma‘asim ṭovim

and bend our nature to serve You.

וְכוֹף אֶת יִצְרֵֽנוּ לְהִשְׁתַּעְבֶּד־לָךְ

vəkhof et yitzrenu ləhishta‘bed-lakh

Grant us today, and every day,

וּתְנֵֽנוּ הַיּוֹם וּבְכָל יוֹם

utnenu hayom uvkhol yom

grace, kindness and mercy,

לְחֵן וּלְחֶֽסֶד וּלְרַחֲמִים

ləchen ulchesed ulrachamim

in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who see us,

בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ וּבְעֵינֵי כָל רוֹאֵֽינוּ

bə‘enekha uv‘ene khol ro’enu

and deal us kindnesses in full.

וְתִגְמְלֵֽנוּ חֲסָדִים טוֹבִים

vətigməlenu chasadim ṭovim

who deals kindnesses in full to the people Yisra’el.

הַגּוֹמֵל חֲסָדִים טוֹבִים לְעַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל

hagomel chasadim ṭovim lə‘amo yisra’el

Sovereign of all worlds, and Master of masters:

רִבּוֹן כָּל הָעוֹלָמִים וַאֲדוֹנֵי הָאֲדוֹנִים,

ribon kol ha‘olamim va’adone ha’adonim,

it is not on our own righteousness that we lay our pleas before You,

לֹא עַל צִדְקוֹתֵֽינוּ אֲנַֽחְנוּ מַפִּילִים תַּחֲנוּנֵֽינוּ לְפָנֶֽיךָ

lo ‘al tzidqotenu anachnu mapilim tachanunenu ləfanekha

but on Your abundant mercy.

כִּי עַל רַחֲמֶֽיךָ הָרַבִּים,

ki ‘al rachamekha harabim,

What are we? What is our life?

מָה אָֽנוּ מֶה חַיֵּֽינוּ

mah anu meh chayenu

What our kindness, what our righteousness?

מֶה חַסְדֵּֽנוּ, מַה צִּדְקוֹתֵֽינוּ,

meh chasdenu mah tzidqotenu,

What our deliverance, what our strength?

מַה יְּשׁוּעָתֵֽנוּ, מַה כֹּחֵֽנוּ

mah yəshu‘atenu mah kochenu

What our might?

מַה גְּבוּרָתֵֽנוּ,

mah gəvuratenu,

What can we say before You, Ineffable our G-d and G-d of our ancestors?

מַה נֹּאמַר לְפָנֶֽיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ

mah no’mar ləfanekha Adonai elohenu ve’lohe avotenu

Are not all the mighty as nothing before You,

הֲלֹא כָּל הַגִּבּוֹרִים כְּאַֽיִן לְפָנֶֽיךָ

halo kol hagiborim kə’ayin ləfanekha

and those of great name as though they had never been,

וְאַנְשֵׁי הַשֵּׁם כְּלֹא הָיוּ

və’anshe hashem kəlo hayu

the wise as though without knowledge,

וַחֲכָמִים כִּבְלִי מַדָּע

vachakhamim kivli mada‘

the discerning as though without sense?

וּנְבוֹנִים כִּבְלִי הַשְׂכֵּל

unvonim kivli haskel

For most of what they do is emptiness,

כִּי רוֹב מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם תֹּֽהוּ

ki rov ma‘asehem tohu

and the days of their life a breath before You.

וִימֵי חַיֵּיהֶם הֶֽבֶל לְפָנֶֽיךָ,

vime chayehem hevel ləfanekha,

What raises a person above a beast is nothing,

וּמוֹתַר הָאָדָם מִן הַבְּהֵמָה אָֽיִן

umotar ha’adam min habəhemah ayin

for all of it is breath —

כִּי הַכֹּל הָֽבֶל:

ki hakol havel.

all but the pure soul, which is

לְבַד הַנְשָׁמָה הַטְּהוֹרָה שֶׁהִיא

ləvad hanshamah haṭəhorah shehi

to give account and reckoning

עֲתִידָה לִתֵּן דִּין וְחֶשְׁבּוֹן

‘atidah liten din vəcheshbon

before the throne of Your glory.

לִפְנֵי כִסֵּא כְבוֹדֶֽךָ

lifne khise khəvodekha

And all the nations are as nothing before You,

וְכָל הַגּוֹיִם כְּאַֽיִן נֶגְדֶּֽךָ

vəkhol hagoyim kə’ayin negdekha

as it is said: the nations

שֶׁנֶּאֶמַר הֵן גּוֹיִם

shene’emar hen goyim

are counted a drop from a bucket, dust on the scales;

כְּמַר מִדְּלִי וּכְשַֽׁחַק מֹאזְנַֽיִם נֶחְשָֽׁבוּ

kəmar midəli ukhshachaq mo’zənayim nechshavu

the coastlands weigh as fine powder.

הֵן אִיִּים כַּדַּק יִטּוֹל:

hen iyim kadaq yiṭol.

But we are Your people, the children of Your covenant,

אֲבָל אֲנַֽחְנוּ עַמְּךָ בְּנֵי בְרִיתֶֽךָ,

aval anachnu ‘aməkha bəne vəritekha,

the children of Avraham who loved You, to whom You swore on Mount Moriah;

בְּנֵי אַבְרָהָם אֹהַבְךָ שֶׁנִּשְׁבַּֽעְתָּ לּוֹ בְּהַר הַמֹּרִיָּה,

bəne avraham ohavkha shenishba‘ta lo bəhar hamoriyah,

the seed of Yitzchak, their only one, bound upon the altar;

זֶֽרַע יִצְחָק יְחִידוֹ שֶׁנֶּעֱקַד עַל גַּבֵּי הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ,

zera‘ yitzchaq yəchido shene‘eqad ‘al gabe hamizbeach,

the community of Ya’aqov, Your firstborn,

עֲדַת יַעֲקֹב בִּנְךָ בְּכוֹרֶֽךָ

‘adat ya‘aqov binkha bəkhorekha

whom, out of the love You bore and the joy You took in them,

שֶׁמֵּאַהֲבָתְךָ שֶׁאָהַֽבְתָּ אוֹתוֹ וּמִשִּׂמְחָתְךָ שֶׁשָּׂמַֽחְתָּ בּוֹ

sheme’ahavatəkha she’ahavta oto umisimchatəkha shesamachta bo

You named Yisra’el, and Yeshurun.

קָרָֽאתָ אֶת שְׁמוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל וִישֻׁרוּן:

qara’ta et shəmo yisra’el vishurun.

Therefore we are bound to thank You,

לְפִיכָךְ אֲנַֽחְנוּ חַיָּבִים לְהוֹדוֹת לְךָ

ləfikhakh anachnu chayavim ləhodot ləkha

to praise You, to glorify, to bless and to make holy,

וּלְשַׁבֵּחֲךָ וּלְפָאֶרְךָ וּלְבָרֵךְ וּלְקַדֵּשׁ

ulshabechakha ulfa’erkha ulvarekh ulqadesh

and to give praise and thanks to Your Name.

וְלִתֵּן שֶֽׁבַח וְהוֹדָיָה לִשְׁמֶֽךָ:

vəliten shevach vəhodayah lishmekha.

How fortunate we are — how good our portion,

אַשְׁרֵֽינוּ מַה טּוֹב חֶלְקֵֽנוּ

ashrenu mah ṭov chelqenu

how pleasant our lot,

וּמַה נָּעִים גּוֹרָלֵֽנוּ

umah na‘im goralenu

how lovely what we inherit.

וּמַה יָּפָה יְרֻשָּׁתֵֽנוּ:

umah yafah yərushatenu.

How fortunate we are, rising early and late

אַשְׁרֵֽינוּ כְּשֶׁאָֽנוּ מַשְׁכִּימִים וּמַעֲרִיבִים

ashrenu kəshe’anu mashkimim uma‘arivim

in houses of assembly and houses of study,

בְּבָתֵּי כְנֵסִיּוֹת וּבְבָתֵּי מִדְרָשׁוֹת

bəvate khənesiyot uvəvate midrashot

declaring Your Name one, every day, always,

וּמְיַחֲדִים שִׁמְךָ בְּכָל־יוֹם תָּמִיד

umyachadim shimkha bəkhol-yom tamid

and saying twice over, in love:

וְאוֹמְרִים פַּעֲמַֽיִם בְּאַהֲבָה:

və’omərim pa‘amayim bə’ahavah.

You are the One, before the world was created;

אַתָּה הוּא עַד שֶׁלֹּא נִבְרָא הָעוֹלָם,

atah hu ‘ad shelo nivra ha‘olam,

You are the One, since the world was created;

אַתָּה הוּא מִשֶּׁנִּבְרָא הָעוֹלָם,

atah hu mishenivra ha‘olam,

You are the one in this world,

אַתָּה הוּא בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה

atah hu ba‘olam hazeh

and You are the one in the world to come.

וְאַתָּה הוּא לָעוֹלָם הַבָּא,

və’atah hu la‘olam haba,

Make Your Name holy through those who hallow Your Name,

קַדֵּשׁ אֶת שִׁמְךָ עַל מַקְדִּישֵׁי שְׁמֶֽךָ

qadesh et shimkha ‘al maqdishe shəmekha

and make Your Name holy in Your world.

וְקַדֵּשׁ אֶת שִׁמְךָ בְּעֺלָמֶֽךָ,

vəqadesh et shimkha bə‘olamekha,

By Your deliverance raise and lift our horn on high,

וּבִישׁוּעָתְךָ תָּרוּם וְתַגְבִּֽיהַּ קַרְנֵֽנוּ לְמַֽעְלָה,

uvishu‘atəkha tarum vətagbiah qarnenu ləma‘lah,

and save us soon, for the sake of Your Name.

וְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ בְּקָרוֹב לְמַֽעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ.

vəhoshi‘enu bəqarov ləma‘an shəmekha

Blessed is the One who hallows the Name before the many.

בָּרוּךְ הַמְקַדֵּשׁ שְׁמוֹ בָּרַבִּים:

barukh haməqadesh shəmo barabim.

You are the One, Ineffable our G-d, in the heavens and on the earth, and in the highest heavens.

אַתָּה הוּא יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ בַּשָּׁמַֽיִם וּבָאָֽרֶץ וּבִשְׁמֵי הַשָּׁמַֽיִם הָעֶלְיוֹנִים,

atah hu Adonai elohenu bashamayim uva’aretz uvishme hashamayim ha‘elyonim,

Truly, You are the first,

אֱמֶת אַתָּה הוּא רִאשׁוֹן

emet atah hu ri’shon

and You are the last,

וְאַתָּה הוּא אַחֲרוֹן

və’atah hu acharon

and besides You there is no god.

וּמִבַּלְעָדֶֽיךָ אֵין אֱלֹהִים:

umibal‘adekha en elohim.

Gather in those who hope in You, scattered to the four corners of the earth.

קַבֵּץ נְפוּצוֹת קֺוֶֽיךָ מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפוֹת הָאָֽרֶץ,

qabetz nəfutzot qovekha me’arba‘ kanfot ha’aretz,

Let all who come into the world recognise and know

יַכִּֽירוּ וְיֵדְעוּ כָּל בָּאֵי עוֹלָם

yakiru vəyedə‘u kol ba’e ‘olam

that You alone are G-d,

כִּי אַתָּה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים לְבַדְּךָ

ki atah hu ha’elohim ləvadəkha

above all the kingdoms of the earth.

עֶלְיוֹן לְכֹל מַמְלְכוֹת הָאָֽרֶץ,

‘elyon ləkhol mamləkhot ha’aretz,

You made the heavens and the earth,

אַתָּה עָשִֽׂיתָ אֶת הַשָּׁמַֽיִם וְאֶת הָאָֽרֶץ

atah ‘asita et hashamayim və’et ha’aretz

the sea and all that is in them.

אֶת הַיָּם וְאֶת כָּל אֲשֶׁר בָּם

et hayam və’et kol asher bam

Who, among all the work of Your hands above or below,

וּמִי בְּכָל מַעֲשֵׂה יָדֶֽיךָ בָּעֶלְיוֹנִים אוֹ בַתַּחְתּוֹנִים

umi bəkhol ma‘aseh yadekha ba‘elyonim o vatachtonim

could say to You: what are You doing, and what will You make?

שֶׁיֹּאמַר לְךָ מַה תַּעֲשֶׂה, ומַה תִּפְעָל

sheyo’mar ləkha mah ta‘aseh vmah tif‘al

Our source in heaven, living and enduring,

אָבִינוּ שֶׁבַּשָּׁמַֽיִם חַי וְקַיָם

avinu shebashamayim chay vəqayam

deal with us in justice and kindness

עֲשֵׂה עִמָּֽנוּ צְדָקָה וָחֶֽסֶד

‘aseh ‘imanu tzədaqah vachesed

for the sake of Your great, mighty and awesome Name

בַּעֲבוּר שִׁמְךָ הַגָּדוֹל הַגִּבּוֹר וְהַנּוֹרָא

ba‘avur shimkha hagadol hagibor vəhanora

that is called over us.

שֶׁנִּקְרָא עָלֵֽינוּ

sheniqra ‘alenu

Fulfil for us, Ineffable our G-d, what is written:

וְקַיֶּם־לָֽנוּ יְהֺוָה אֶלֹהֵֽינוּ מַה־שֶּׁכָּתוּב,

vəqayem-lanu Adonai elohenu mah-shekatuv,

the word You promised us through Tzefanyah Your seer, as it is said:

אֶת הַדָבָר שֶׁהִבְטַחְתָּֽנוּ עַל יְדֵי צְפַנְיָה חוֹזָךְ כָּאָמוּר,

et hadavar shehivṭachtanu ‘al yəde tzəfanyah chozakh ka’amur,

At that time I shall bring You in,

בָּעֵת הַהִיא אָבִיא אֶתְכֶם

ba‘et hahi avi etkhem

and at that time gather You;

וּבָעֵת קַבְּצִי אֶתְכֶם

uva‘et qabətzi etkhem

for I shall make You a name and a praise among all the peoples of the earth,

כִּי־אֶתֵּן אֶתְכֶם לְשֵׁם וְלִתְהִלָּה בְּכֹל עַמֵּי הָאָֽרֶץ

ki-eten etkhem ləshem vəlithilah bəkhol ‘ame ha’aretz

when I return what was Yours before Your eyes, says The Ineffable.

בְּשׁוּבִי אֶת־שְׁבוּתֵיכֶם לְעֵינֵיכֶם אָמַר יְיָ:

bəshuvi et-shəvutekhem lə‘enekhem amar Adonai.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

elohenu melekh ha‘olam

who made us holy with Your commandments, and commanded us

אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו וְצִוָּנוּ

asher qidəshanu bəmitzvotav vətzivanu

concerning the lifting of hands.

עַל נְטִילַת יָדָֽיִם:

‘al nəṭilat yadayim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

elohenu melekh ha‘olam

who formed the human being in wisdom,

אֲשֶׁר יָצַר אֶת הָאָדָם בְּחָכְמָה

asher yatzar et ha’adam bəchokhmah

and created in us openings upon openings, hollows upon hollows.

וּבָֽרָא בוֹ נְקָבִים נְקָבִים חֲלוּלִים חֲלוּלִים

uvara vo nəqavim nəqavim chalulim chalulim

It is revealed and known before the throne of Your glory

גָּלוּי וְיָדֽוּעַ לִפְנֵי כִסֵּא כְבוֹדֶֽךָ

galuy vəyadua‘ lifne khise khəvodekha

that were one of them to open,

שֶׁאִם יִפָּתֵֽחַ אֶחָד מֵהֶם

she’im yipateach echad mehem

or one of them to close,

אוֹ יִסָּתֵם אֶחָד מֵהֶם

o yisatem echad mehem

it would be impossible to endure and stand before You

אִי אֶפְשַׁר לְהִתְקַיֵּם וְלַעֲמֹד לְפָנֶֽיךָ

i efshar ləhitqayem vəla‘amod ləfanekha

even for a single hour.

אֲפִילוּ שָׁעָה אֶחָת.

afilu sha‘ah echat

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

who heals all flesh and works wonders.

רוֹפֵא כָל בָּשָׂר וּמַפְלִיא לַעֲשׂוֹת:

rofe khol basar umafli la‘asot.

My G-d, the soul You gave me is pure.

אֱלֹהַי, נְשָׁמָה שֶׁנָּתַֽתָּ בִּי טְהוֹרָה הִיא

elohay nəshamah shenatata bi ṭəhorah hi

You created it, You formed it,

אַתָּה בְרָאתָהּ אַתָּה יְצַרְתָּהּ

atah vəra’tah atah yətzartah

You breathed it into me,

אַתָּה נְפַחְתָּהּ בִּי

atah nəfachtah bi

and You keep it within me.

וְאַתָּה מְשַׁמְּרָהּ בְּקִרְבִּי

və’atah məshamərah bəqirbi

You will one day take it from me,

וְאַתָּה עָתִיד לִטְּלָהּ מִמֶּֽנִּי

və’atah ‘atid liṭəlah mimeni

and return it to me in the time to come.

וּלְהַחֲזִירָהּ בִּי לֶעָתִיד לָבֹא,

ulhachazirah bi le‘atid lavo,

So long as the soul is within me,

כָּל זְמַן שֶׁהַנְּשָׁמָה בְקִרְבִּי

kol zəman shehanəshamah vəqirbi

I give thanks before You,

מוֹד׈׫(ז/נ/א) אֲנִי לְפָנֶֽיךָ

modeh(m)/dah(f)/det(x) ani ləfanekha

Ineffable my G-d and G-d of my ancestors,

יְיָ אֱלֹהַי וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתַי

Adonai elohay ve’lohe avotay

Author of all works,

רִבּוֹן כָּל הַמַּעֲשִׂים

ribon kol hama‘asim

Sovereign of all souls.

אֲדוֹן כָּל הַנְּשָׁמוֹת:

adon kol hanəshamot.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

who returns souls to the lifeless.

הַמַּחֲזִיר נְשָׁמוֹת לִפְגָרִים מֵתִים:

hamachazir nəshamot lifgarim metim.

our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

who made us holy with Your commandments, and commanded us

אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו וְצִוָּנוּ

asher qidəshanu bəmitzvotav vətzivanu

to occupy ourselves with words of Torah.

לַעֲסֹק בְּדִבְרֵי תוֹרָה:

la‘asoq bədivre torah.

Make sweet, Ineffable our G-d,

וְהַעֲרֶב נָא יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

vəha‘arev na Adonai elohenu

the words of Your Torah in our mouth,

אֶת דִּבְרֵי תוֹרָתְךָ בְּפִֽינוּ

et divre toratəkha bəfinu

and in the mouth of Your people, the House of Yisra’el,

וּבְפִי עַמְּךָ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל

uvfi ‘aməkha bet yisra’el

so that we and our descendants,

וְנִהְיֶה אֲנַֽחְנוּ וְצֶאֱצָאֵֽינוּ

vənihyeh anachnu vətze’etza’enu

and the descendants of our descendants, and the descendants

וְצֶאֱצָאֵי צֶאֱצָאֵינוּ וְצֶאֱצָאֵי

vətze’etza’e tze’etza’enu vətze’etza’e

of Your people the House of Yisra’el, all of us,

עַמְּךָ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל כֻּלָּֽנוּ

‘aməkha bet yisra’el kulanu

may come to know Your Name

יוֹדְעֵי שְׁמֶֽךָ

yodə‘e shəmekha

and study Your Torah for its own sake.

וְלוֹמְדֵי תוֹרָתֶֽךָ לִשְׁמָהּ:

vəloməde toratekha lishmah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

who teaches Torah to the people Yisra’el.

הַמְלַמֵּד תּוֹרָה לְעַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל:

haməlamed torah lə‘amo yisra’el.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

who chose us from among all peoples

אֲשֶׁר בָּֽחַר בָּֽנוּ מִכָּל הָעַמִּים

asher bachar banu mikol ha‘amim

and gave us the Torah.

וְנָֽתַן לָֽנוּ אֶת תּוֹרָתוֹ:

vənatan lanu et torato.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

who gives the Torah.

נוֹתֵן הַתּוֹרָה:

noten hatorah.

The Ineffable spoke to Mosheh, saying:

וַיְדַבֵּר יְיָ אֶל מֹשֶׁה לֵאמֹר

vayədaber Adonai el mosheh le’mor

Speak to Aharon and to his sons, saying:

דַבֵּר אֶל אַהֲרֹן וְאֶל בָּנָיו לֵאמֹר

daber el aharon və’el banav le’mor

Thus shall you bless the children of Yisra’el;

כֹּה תְבָרְכוּ אֶת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל

koh təvarəkhu et bəne yisra’el

say to them:

אָמוֹר לָהֶם:

amor lahem.

May The Ineffable bless you and keep you.

יְבָרֶכְךָ יְיָ וְיִשְׁמְרֶֽךָ:

yəvarekhkha Adonai vəyishmərekha.

May The Ineffable shine Their face upon you and be gracious to you.

יָאֵר יְיָ פָּנָיו אֵלֶֽיךָ וִיחֻנֶּֽךָּ:

ya’er Adonai panav elekha vichuneka.

May The Ineffable lift Their face toward you

יִשָּׂא יְיָ פָּנָיו אֵלֶֽיךָ

yisa Adonai panav elekha

and grant you peace.

וְיָשֵׂם לְךָ שָׁלוֹם:

vəyasem ləkha shalom.

They shall set my Name upon the children of Yisra’el,

וְשָׂמוּ אֶת שְׁמִי עַל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל

vəsamu et shəmi ‘al bəne yisra’el

and I shall bless them.

וַאֲנִי אַבָרְכֵם:

va’ani avarəkhem.

These are the things that have no fixed measure:

אֵֽלּוּ דְבָרִים שֶׁאֵין לָהֶם שִׁעוּר

elu dəvarim she’en lahem shi‘ur

the corner of the field, the first fruits, the festival offering,

הַפֵּאָה וְהַבִּכּוּרִים וְהָרְאָיוֹן

hape’ah vəhabikurim vəharə’ayon

acts of kindness, and the study of Torah.

וּגְמִילוּת חֲסָדִים וְתַלְמוּד תּוֹרָה:

ugmilut chasadim vətalmud torah.

These are the things whose fruits a person eats in this world

אֵֽלּוּ דְבָרִים שֶׁאָדָם אוֹכֵל פֵּרוֹתֵיהֶם בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה

elu dəvarim she’adam okhel perotehem ba‘olam hazeh

while the principal remains for them in the world to come.

וְהַקֶּֽרֶן קַיֶּֽמֶת לוֹ לָעוֹלָם הַבָּא,

vəhaqeren qayemet lo la‘olam haba,

And these are they:

וְאֵֽלּוּ הֵן

və’elu hen

honouring father and mother,

כִּבּוּד אָב וָאֵם

kibud av va’em

acts of kindness,

וּגְמִילוּת חֲסָדִים

ugmilut chasadim

rising early for the house of study, morning and evening,

וְהַשְׁכָּמַת בֵּית הַמִּדְרָשׁ שַׁחֲרִית וְעַרְבִית

vəhashkamat bet hamidrash shacharit və‘arvit

welcoming guests,

וְהַכְנָסַת אוֹרְחִים

vəhakhnasat orəchim

visiting the sick,

וּבִקּוּר חוֹלִים

uviqur cholim

providing for a bride,

וְהַכְנָסַת כַּלָּה

vəhakhnasat kalah

accompanying the dead,

וּלְוָיַת הַמֵּת

ulvayat hamet

attentiveness in prayer,

וְעִיּוּן תְּפִלָּה

və‘iyun təfilah

and making peace between one person and another,

וַהֲבָאַת שָׁלוֹם בֵּין אָדָם לַחֲבֵרוֹ

vahava’at shalom ben adam lachavero

and between wife and husband;

וּבֵין אִישׁ לְאִשְׁתּוֹ

uven ish lə’ishto

and the study of Torah is equal to them all.

וְתַלְמוּד תּוֹרָה כְּנֶֽגֶד כֻּלָּם:

vətalmud torah kəneged kulam.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

elohenu melekh ha‘olam

who made us holy with Your commandments, and commanded us

אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו וְצִוָּנוּ

asher qidəshanu bəmitzvotav vətzivanu

to wrap ourselves in the fringes.

לְהִתְעַטֵּף בַּצִּיצִית:

ləhit‘aṭef batzitzit.

our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

who made us holy with Your commandments, and commanded us

אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו וְצִוָּנוּ

to lay tefillin.

לְהָנִיחַ תְּפִלִּין:

ləhaniach təfilin.

our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

who made us holy with Your commandments, and commanded us

אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו וְצִוָּנוּ

asher qidəshanu bəmitzvotav vətzivanu

concerning the commandment of tefillin.

עַל מִצְוַת תְּפִלִּין:

‘al mitzvat təfilin.

Blessed be the Name,

בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם

barukh shem

the glory of whose reign endures eternity.

כְּבוֹד מַלְכוּתוֹ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד

kəvod malkhuto lə‘olam va‘ed

The Ineffable spoke to Mosheh, saying:

וַיְדַבֵּר יְיָ אֶל־משֶׁה לֵּאמֹר:

vayədaber Adonai el-msheh le’mor.

Command the children of Yisra’el, and say to them:

צַו אֶת־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם

tzav et-bəne yisra’el və’amarta alehem

My offering, my bread for the fires, my pleasing savour —

אֶת־קָרְבָּנִי לַחְמִי לְאִשַּׁי רֵֽיחַ נִיחֹחִי

et-qorbani lachmi lə’ishay reach nichochi

take care to bring it to me at its appointed time.

תִּשְׁמְרוּ לְהַקְרִיב לִי בְּמוֹעֲדוֹ:

tishməru ləhaqriv li bəmo‘ado.

And say to them: this is the fire offering

וְאָמַרְתָּ לָהֶם זֶה הָאִשֶּׁה

və’amarta lahem zeh ha’isheh

that you shall bring to The Ineffable:

אֲשֶׁר תַּקְרִֽיבוּ לַיהוָֹה

asher taqrivu la-Adonai

two yearling lambs without blemish, each day,

כְּבָשִׂים בְּנֵי־שָׁנָה תְמִימִם שְׁנַֽיִם לַיּוֹם

kəvasim bəne-shanah təmimim shənayim layom

a standing burnt offering.

עֹלָה תָמִיד:

‘olah tamid.

The one lamb you shall offer in the morning,

אֶת־הַכֶּֽבֶשׂ אֶחָד תַּעֲשֶׂה בַבֹּֽקֶר

et-hakeves echad ta‘aseh vaboqer

and the second lamb you shall offer toward evening;

וְאֵת הַכֶּֽבֶשׂ הַשֵּׁנִי תַּעֲשֶׂה בֵּין הָעַרְבָּֽיִם:

və’et hakeves hasheni ta‘aseh ben ha‘arbayim.

with a tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil,

וַֽעֲשִׂירִית הָאֵיפָה סֹֽלֶת לְמִנְחָה בְּלוּלָה בְּשֶֽׁמֶן

va‘asirit ha’efah solet ləminchah bəlulah bəshemen

beaten oil, a quarter of a hin.

כָּתִית רְבִיעִת הַהִין:

katit rəvi‘it hahin.

It is the standing burnt offering, made at Mount Sinai,

עֹלַת תָּמִיד הָעֲשֻׂיָה בְּהַר סִינַי

‘olat tamid ha‘asuyah bəhar sinay

a pleasing savour, a fire offering to The Ineffable.

לְרֵֽיחַ נִיחֹֽחַ אִשֶּׁה לַיהוָֹה:

ləreach nichoach isheh la-Adonai.

Its libation is a quarter of a hin for each lamb;

וְנִסְכּוֹ רְבִיעִת הַהִין לַכֶּֽבֶשׂ הָאֶחָד

vənisko rəvi‘it hahin lakeves ha’echad

in the holy place pour out a libation of strong drink to The Ineffable.

בַּקֹּֽדֶשׁ הַסֵּךְ נֶֽסֶךְ שֵׁכָר לַיהוָֹה:

baqodesh hasekh nesekh shekhar la-Adonai.

And the second lamb you shall offer toward evening,

וְאֵת הַכֶּֽבֶשׂ הַשֵּׁנִי תַּעֲשֶׂה בֵּין הָעַרְבָּֽיִם

və’et hakeves hasheni ta‘aseh ben ha‘arbayim

with a grain offering and libation like the morning’s,

כְּמִנְחַת הַבֹּֽקֶר וּכְנִסְכּוֹ תַּעֲשֶׂה

kəminchat haboqer ukhnisko ta‘aseh

a fire offering, a pleasing savour to The Ineffable.

אִשֵּׁה רֵֽיחַ נִיחֹֽחַ לַיהוָֹה:

isheh reach nichoach la-Adonai.

Blessed is the One who spoke, and the world was.

בָּרוּךְ שֶׁאָמַר וְהָיָה הָעוֹלָם,

barukh she’amar vəhayah ha‘olam,

Blessed is that One.

בָּרוּךְ הוּא,

barukh hu,

Blessed is the One who speaks and does,

בָּרוּךְ אוֹמֵר וְעוֹשֶׂה,

barukh omer və‘oseh,

who decrees and fulfils,

בָּרוּךְ גּוֹזֵר וּמְקַיֵּם,

barukh gozer umqayem,

who made the beginning,

בָּרוּךְ עֹשֶׂה בְרֵאשִׁית,

barukh ‘oseh vəre’shit,

who has mercy on the earth,

בָּרוּךְ מְרַחֵם עַל הָאָֽרֶץ,

barukh mərachem ‘al ha’aretz,

who has mercy on all creatures,

בָּרוּךְ מְרַחֵם עַל הַבְּרִיּוֹת,

barukh mərachem ‘al habəriyot,

who repays those in awe of Them well,

בָּרוּךְ מְשַׁלֵּם שָׂכָר טוֹב לִירֵאָיו,

barukh məshalem sakhar ṭov lire’av,

who lives for ever and endures eternally,

בָּרוּךְ חַי לָעַד וְקַיָּם לָנֶֽצַח,

barukh chay la‘ad vəqayam lanetzach,

who ransoms and delivers.

בָּרוּךְ פּוֹדֶה וּמַצִּיל,

barukh podeh umatzil,

Blessed is the Name.

בָּרוּךְ שְׁמוֹ:

barukh shəmo.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable our G-d, Sovereign of the cosmos,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם

barukh atah Adonai elohenu melekh ha‘olam

the merciful source, praised by the mouth of Your people,

הָאֵל הָאָב הָרַחֲמָן הַמְּהֻלָּל בְּפֶה עַמּוֹ

ha’el ha’av harachaman haməhulal bəfeh ‘amo

extolled and glorified by the tongue of the faithful who serve You.

מְשֻׁבָּח וּמְפֹאָר בִּלְשׁוֹן חֲסִידָיו וַעֲבָדָיו

məshubach umfo’ar bilshon chasidav va‘avadav

And in the songs of David Your servant

וּבְשִׁירֵי דָוִד עַבְדֶּֽךָ,

uvshire david ‘avdekha,

we shall praise You, Ineffable our G-d, with praises and songs.

נְהַלֶּלְךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ בִּשְׁבָחוֹת וּבִזְמִירוֹת

nəhalelkha Adonai elohenu bishvachot uvizmirot

We shall magnify You, praise You, glorify You, and call Your Name,

נְגַדֶּלְךָ וּנְשַׁבֵּחֲךָ וּנְפָאֶרְךָ וְנַזְכִּיר שִׁמְךָ

nəgadelkha unshabechakha unfa’erkha vənazkir shimkha

and crown You, our Sovereign and our G-d, the one life of all worlds.

וְנַמְלִיכְךָ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ, יָחִיד, חֵי הָעוֹלָמִים

vənamlikhəkha malkenu elohenu yachid che ha‘olamim

Sovereign extolled and glorified, whose great Name is for ever.

מֶֽלֶךְ מְשֻׁבָּח וּמְפֹאָר עֲדֵי עַד שְׁמוֹ הַגָּדוֹל:

melekh məshubach umfo’ar ‘ade ‘ad shəmo hagadol.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, Sovereign praised in praises.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מֶֽלֶךְ מְהֻלָּל בַּתִּשְׁבָּחוֹת:

I shall raise You high, my G-d the Sovereign, and bless Your Name for ever.

aromimkha elohay hamelekh va’avarəkhah shimkha lə‘olam va‘ed.

Every day I shall bless You, and praise Your Name for ever.

בְּכָל־יוֹם אֲבָרְכֶֽךָּ וַאֲהַלְלָה שִׁמְךָ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:

bəkhol-yom avarəkheka va’ahaləlah shimkha lə‘olam va‘ed.

Great is The Ineffable and greatly praised; that greatness is past searching out.

גָּדוֹל יְיָ וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד וְלִגְדֻלָּתוֹ אֵין חֵֽקֶר:

gadol Adonai umhulal mə’od vəligdulato en cheqer.

Age to age shall praise Your works, and tell of Your acts of power.

דּוֹר לְדוֹר יְשַׁבַּח מַעֲשֶׂיךָ וּגְבוּרֹתֶֽיךָ יַגִּֽידוּ:

dor lədor yəshabach ma‘asekha ugvurotekha yagidu.

On the splendour of Your glory, and on Your wonders, I shall dwell.

הֲדַר כְּבוֹד הוֹדֶֽךָ וְדִבְרֵי נִפְלְאֹתֶֽיךָ אָשִֽׂיחָה:

hadar kəvod hodekha vədivre niflə’otekha asichah.

They shall speak of Your awesome strength, and I shall recount Your greatness.

וֶעֱזוּז נוֹרְאֹתֶֽיךָ יֹאמֵרוּ וּגְדֻלָּתְךָ אֲסַפְּרֶֽנָּה:

ve‘ezuz norə’otekha yo’meru ugdulatəkha asapərenah.

They shall pour out the memory of Your great goodness, and sing of Your justice.

זֵֽכֶר רַב־טוּבְךָ יַבִּֽיעוּ וְצִדְקָתְךָ יְרַנֵּֽנוּ:

zekher rav-ṭuvəkha yabi‘u vətzidqatəkha yəranenu.

Gracious and merciful is The Ineffable, slow to anger and great in kindness.

חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם יְיָ אֶֽרֶךְ אַפַּֽיִם וּגְדָל־חָֽסֶד:

chanun vərachum Adonai erekh apayim ugdal-chased.

The Ineffable is good to all, with mercy over all that was made.

טוֹב־יְיָ לַכֹּל וְרַחֲמָיו עַל־כָּל־מַעֲשָׂיו:

ṭov-Adonai lakol vərachamav ‘al-kol-ma‘asav.

All Your works shall thank You, Ineffable, and the faithful shall bless You.

יוֹדֽוּךָ יְיָ כָּל־מַעֲשֶֽׂיךָ וַחֲסִידֶֽיךָ יְבָרְכֽוּכָה:

yodukha Adonai kol-ma‘asekha vachasidekha yəvarəkhukhah.

They shall tell of the glory of Your reign, and speak of Your power,

כְּבוֹד מַלְכוּתְךָ יֹאמֵרוּ וּגְבוּרָתְךָ יְדַבֵּֽרוּ:

kəvod malkhutəkha yo’meru ugvuratəkha yədaberu.

to make known to humankind that power, and the splendid glory of that reign.

לְהוֹדִֽיעַ לִבְנֵי הָאָדָם גְּבוּרֹתָיו וּכְבוֹד הֲדַר מַלְכוּתוֹ:

ləhodia‘ livne ha’adam gəvurotav ukhvod hadar malkhuto.

Your reign is a reign of all ages, Your rule through every generation.

מַלְכוּתְךָ מַלְכוּת כָּל־עֹלָמִים וּמֶמְשַׁלְתְּךָ בְּכָל־דּוֹר וָדֹר:

malkhutəkha malkhut kol-‘olamim umemshaltəkha bəkhol-dor vador.

The Ineffable upholds all who fall, and straightens all who are bent.

סוֹמֵךְ יְיָ לְכָל־הַנֹּפְלִים וְזוֹקֵף לְכָל־הַכְּפוּפִים:

somekh Adonai ləkhol-hanofəlim vəzoqef ləkhol-hakəfufim.

The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in its time.

עֵינֵי־כֹל אֵלֶֽיךָ יְשַׂבֵּֽרוּ וְאַתָּה נוֹתֵן־לָהֶם אֶת־אָכְלָם בְּעִתּוֹ:

‘ene-khol elekha yəsaberu və’atah noten-lahem et-okhlam bə‘ito.

You open Your hand, and satisfy every living thing with favour.

פּוֹתֵֽחַ אֶת־יָדֶֽךָ וּמַשְׂבִּֽיעַ לְכָל־חַי רָצוֹן:

poteach et-yadekha umasbia‘ ləkhol-chay ratzon.

The Ineffable is just in every way, and faithful in all that is done.

צַדִּיק יְיָ בְּכָל־דְּרָכָיו וְחָסִיד בְּכָל־מַעֲשָׂיו:

tzadiq Adonai bəkhol-dərakhav vəchasid bəkhol-ma‘asav.

The Ineffable is near to all who call, to all who call in truth.

קָרוֹב יְיָ לְכָל־קֹרְאָיו לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר יִקְרָאֻֽהוּ בֶאֱמֶת:

qarov Adonai ləkhol-qorə’av ləkhol asher yiqra’uhu ve’emet.

The desire of those in awe is done; their cry is heard, and they are saved.

רְצוֹן־יְרֵאָיו יַעֲשֶׂה וְאֶת־שַׁוְעָתָם יִשְׁמַע וְיוֹשִׁיעֵם:

rətzon-yəre’av ya‘aseh və’et-shav‘atam yishma‘ vəyoshi‘em.

The Ineffable guards all who love, and will bring the wicked to nothing.

שׁוֹמֵר יְיָ אֶת־כָּל־אֹהֲבָיו וְאֵת כָּל־הָרְשָׁעִים יַשְׁמִיד:

shomer Adonai et-kol-ohavav və’et kol-harəsha‘im yashmid.

My mouth shall speak the praise of The Ineffable, and all flesh bless that holy Name for ever.

תְּהִלַּת יְיָ יְדַבֶּר פִּי וִיבָרֵךְ כָּל־בָּשָׂר שֵׁם קָדְשׁוֹ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:

Do not trust in the great, in a mortal who cannot save.

אַל־תִּבְטְחוּ בִנְדִיבִים בְּבֶן־אָדָם שֶׁאֵין לוֹ תְשׁוּעָה:

al-tivṭəchu vindivim bəven-adam she’en lo təshu‘ah.

Their breath goes out, they return to the earth,

תֵּצֵא רוּחוֹ יָשֻׁב לְאַדְמָתוֹ

tetze rucho yashuv lə’admato

and on that day their designs are lost.

בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא אָבְדוּ עֶשְׁתֹּנֹתָיו:

bayom hahu avədu ‘eshtonotav.

Happy are those whose help is the G-d of Ya’aqov, whose hope is in The Ineffable their G-d,

אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁאֵל יַעֲקֹב בְּעֶזְרוֹ, שִׂבְרוֹ עַל־יְיָ אֱלֹהָיו:

maker of heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them,

‘oseh shamayim va’aretz et-hayam və’et-kol-asher-bam,

who keeps faith for ever,

who does justice for the oppressed,

who gives bread to the hungry.

נֹתֵן לֶֽחֶם לָרְעֵבִים

noten lechem larə‘evim

The Ineffable frees the bound.

יְיָ מַתִּיר אֲסוּרִים:

Adonai matir asurim.

The Ineffable opens the eyes of the blind.

יְיָ פֹּקֵֽחַ עִוְרִים

Adonai poqeach ‘ivrim

The Ineffable straightens the bent.

יְיָ זֹקֵף כְּפוּפִים

Adonai zoqef kəfufim

The Ineffable loves the just.

יְיָ אֹהֵב צַדִּיקִים:

Adonai ohev tzadiqim.

The Ineffable watches over the stranger,

יְיָ שֹׁמֵר אֶת־גֵּרִים

Adonai shomer et-gerim

lifts up the orphan and the widow,

יָתוֹם וְאַלְמָנָה יְעוֹדֵד

yatom və’almanah yə‘oded

and twists the way of the wicked.

וְדֶֽרֶךְ רְשָׁעִים יְעַוֵּת:

vəderekh rəsha‘im yə‘avet.

The Ineffable shall reign for ever — your G-d, Tziyon, from age to age.

It is good to sing to our G-d; praise is pleasant and fitting.

ki-ṭov zamərah elohenu ki-na‘im na’vah təhilah.

The Ineffable rebuilds Yerushalayim,

בּוֹנֵה יְרוּשָׁלַֽםִ יְיָ

boneh yərushalami Adonai

and gathers in the scattered of Yisra’el;

נִדְחֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יְכַנֵּס:

nidche yisra’el yəkhanes.

heals the broken-hearted, and binds up their wounds;

הָרוֹפֵא לִשְׁבֽוּרֵי לֵב וּמְחַבֵּשׁ לְעַצְּבוֹתָם:

harofe lishvure lev umchabesh lə‘atzəvotam.

counts the number of the stars,

מוֹנֶה מִסְפָּר לַכּוֹכָבִים

moneh mispar lakokhavim

and calls each one by name.

לְכֻלָּם שֵׁמוֹת יִקְרָא:

ləkhulam shemot yiqra.

Great is our Sovereign, abundant in power;

גָּדוֹל אֲדוֹנֵֽינוּ וְרַב־כֹּֽחַ

gadol adonenu vərav-koach

that understanding is beyond counting.

לִתְבוּנָתוֹ אֵין מִסְפָּר:

litvunato en mispar.

The Ineffable lifts up the humble,

מְעוֹדֵד עֲנָוִים יְיָ

mə‘oded ‘anavim Adonai

and brings the wicked down to the earth.

מַשְׁפִּיל רְשָׁעִים עֲדֵי־אָֽרֶץ:

mashpil rəsha‘im ‘ade-aretz.

Answer The Ineffable with thanks;

עֱנוּ לַיהוָֹה בְּתוֹדָה

‘enu la-Adonai bətodah

sing to our G-d with the lyre —

זַמְּרוּ לֵאלֹהֵֽינוּ בְכִנּוֹר:

who covers the heavens with cloud,

הַמְכַסֶּה שָׁמַֽיִם בְּעָבִים

haməkhaseh shamayim bə‘avim

who prepares rain for the earth,

hamekhin la’aretz maṭar

who makes grass grow on the hills,

הַמַּצְמִֽיחַ הָרִים חָצִיר:

hamatzmiach harim chatzir.

who gives the cattle their food,

נוֹתֵן לִבְהֵמָה לַחְמָהּ

noten livhemah lachmah

and the young ravens what they cry for.

לִבְנֵי עֹרֵב אֲשֶׁר יִקְרָֽאוּ:

livne ‘orev asher yiqra’u.

Not in the strength of the horse is there delight,

לֹא בִגְבוּרַת הַסּוּס יֶחְפָּץ

lo vigvurat hasus yechpatz

not in the runner’s stride;

לֹא בְשׁוֹקֵי הָאִישׁ יִרְצֶה:

lo vəshoqe ha’ish yirtzeh.

The Ineffable delights in those in awe, in those who wait for Their kindness.

רוֹצֶה יְיָ אֶת־יְרֵאָיו אֶת־הַמְיַחֲלִים לְחַסְדּוֹ:

rotzeh Adonai et-yəre’av et-haməyachalim ləchasdo.

Praise The Ineffable, Yerushalayim;

שַׁבְּחִי יְרוּשָׁלַֽםִ אֶת יְיָ

shabəchi yərushalami et Adonai

praise your G-d, Tziyon —

who has made your gates strong,

כִּי־חִזַּק בְּרִיחֵי שְׁעָרָֽיִךְ

בֵּרַךְ בָּנַֽיִךְ בְּקִרְבֵּךְ:

berakh banayikh bəqirbekh.

who sets peace at your border,

הַשָּׂם־גְּבוּלֵךְ שָׁלוֹם

hasam-gəvulekh shalom

and fills you with the finest wheat,

חֵֽלֶב חִטִּים יַשְׂבִּיעֵךְ:

chelev chiṭim yasbi‘ekh.

who sends a word to the earth,

הַשֹּׁלֵֽחַ אִמְרָתוֹ אָֽרֶץ

hasholeach imrato aretz

and swiftly it runs,

עַד־מְהֵרָה יָרוּץ דְּבָרוֹ:

‘ad-məherah yarutz dəvaro.

who gives snow like wool,

הַנֹּתֵן שֶֽׁלֶג כַּצָּֽמֶר

hanoten sheleg katzamer

and scatters frost like ash,

כְּפוֹר כָּאֵֽפֶר יְפַזֵּר:

kəfor ka’efer yəfazer.

who casts down hail like crumbs —

מַשְׁלִיךְ קַרְחוֹ כְפִתִּים

mashlikh qarcho khəfitim

before that cold, who can stand?

לִפְנֵי קָרָתוֹ מִי יַעֲמֹד:

lifne qarato mi ya‘amod.

A word is sent, and they melt;

יִשְׁלַח דְּבָרוֹ וְיַמְסֵם

yishlach dəvaro vəyamsem

a wind blows, and the waters flow.

יַשֵּׁב רוּחוֹ יִזְּלוּ־מָֽיִם:

yashev rucho yizəlu-mayim.

Their words are told to Ya’aqov,

מַגִּיד דְּבָרָיו לְיַעֲקֹב

magid dəvarav ləya‘aqov

Their laws and judgements to Yisra’el.

חֻקָּיו וּמִשְׁפָּטָיו לְיִשְׂרָאֵל:

chuqav umishpaṭav ləyisra’el.

They have not done so for any other nation;

לֹא עָֽשָׂה כֵן לְכָל־גּוֹי

lo ‘asah khen ləkhol-goy

they do not know those judgements.

וּמִשְׁפָּטִים בַּל־יְדָעוּם

umishpaṭim bal-yəda‘um

Praise, highest heavens, and the waters above the heavens.

Let them praise the Name of The Ineffable,

sea creatures and all the deeps,

fire and hail, snow and mist,

וְכָל־תְּהֹמוֹת: אֵשׁ וּבָרָד שֶֽׁלֶג

storm wind that does what is spoken,

וְקִיטוֹר רֽוּחַ סְעָרָה עֹשָׂה

vəqiṭor ruach sə‘arah ‘osah

the mountains and all hills,

דְבָרוֹ: הֶהָרִים

fruit trees and all cedars,

וְכָל־גְּבָעוֹת עֵץ פְּרִי

wild things and all cattle,

crawling things and winged birds,

the rulers of the earth and all peoples,

כָּנָף: מַלְכֵי־אֶֽרֶץ

kanaf malkhe-eretz

princes and all who judge the earth,

וְכָל־לְאֻמִּים שָׂרִים וְכָל־שֹׁפְטֵי

vəkhol-lə’umim sarim vəkhol-shofəṭe

young men and young women too,

אָֽרֶץ: בַּחוּרִים וְגַם־בְּתוּלוֹת

aretz bachurim vəgam-bətulot

the old with the young.

זְקֵנִים עִם־נְעָרִים:

zəqenim ‘im-nə‘arim.

Let them praise the Name of The Ineffable,

יְהַלְלוּ אֶת־שֵׁם יְיָ

yəhaləlu et-shem Adonai

for that Name alone is exalted;

כִּי־נִשְׂגָּב שְׁמוֹ לְבַדּוֹ

ki-nisgav shəmo ləvado

Their glory is over earth and heaven.

They have raised a horn for Their people,

for the children of Yisra’el, the people close to Them.

Sing a new song to The Ineffable, Their praise in the assembly of the faithful.

Let Yisra’el rejoice in their maker; let the children of Tziyon delight in their Sovereign.

yismach yisra’el bə‘osav bəne-tziyon yagilu vəmalkam.

Let them praise that Name in dance, with drum and lyre make music,

יְהַלְלוּ שְׁמוֹ בְמָחוֹל בְּתֹף וְכִנּוֹר

for The Ineffable delights in Their people, and crowns the humble with deliverance.

יְזַמְּרוּ־לוֹ: כִּי־רוֹצֶה יְיָ בְּעַמּוֹ יְפָאֵר

Let the faithful exult in glory,

The heights of G-d in their throat,

a double-edged sword in their hand,

בִּגְרוֹנָם וְחֶֽרֶב פִּיפִיּוֹת

bigronam vəcherev pifiyot

to work justice among the nations,

בְּיָדָם: לַעֲשׂוֹת נְקָמָה

bəyadam la‘asot nəqamah

rebuke among the peoples,

בַגּוֹיִם תּוֹכֵחוֹת

vagoyim tokhechot

to bind their rulers in chains,

בַּלְאֻמִּים: לֶאְסֹר מַלְכֵיהֶם

bal’umim le’sor malkhehem

and their nobles in irons of iron,

בְּזִקִּים וְנִכְבְּדֵיהֶם בְּכַבְלֵי בַרְזֶל:

bəziqim vənikhbədehem bəkhavle varzel.

to do to them the judgement written.

לַעֲשׂוֹת בָּהֶם מִשְׁפָּט כָּתוּב

la‘asot bahem mishpaṭ katuv

That is the splendour of all the faithful.

Praise with drum and dance;

praise with strings and pipe.

הַלְלֽוּהוּ בְּמִנִּים וְעֻגָב:

haləluhu bəminim və‘ugav.

Praise with sounding cymbals;

הַלְלֽוּהוּ בְצִלְצְלֵי־שָֽׁמַע

haləluhu vətziltzəle-shama‘

praise with cymbals of acclaim.

הַלְלֽוּהוּ בְּצִלְצְלֵי תְרוּעָה:

haləluhu bətziltzəle təru‘ah.

Let all that breathes praise Yah. Halleluyah.

From everlasting to everlasting You are G-d.

הַבּוֹחֵר בְּשִׁירֵי זִמְרָה

Sovereign, the one G-d, life of all worlds.

מֶֽלֶךְ יָחִיד אֵל חֵי הָעוֹלָמִים:

melekh yachid el che ha‘olamim.

May the great Name be magnified and made holy

יִתְגַּדַּל וְיִתְקַדַּשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא

yitgadal vəyitqadash shəmeh raba

in the world that was created as They willed;

בְּעָלְמָא דִּי בְרָא כִרְעוּתֵהּ

and may that reign be brought about,

in your lifetime and in your days,

and in the life of all the house of Yisra’el,

וּבְחַיֵּי דְכָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל,

uvchaye dəkhol bet yisra’el,

soon and in a near time.

בַּעֲגָלָא וּבִזְמַן קָרִיב

and in goodness renews the work of creation every day, always.

וּבְטוּבוֹ מְחַדֵּשׁ בְּכָל יוֹם תָּמִיד מַעֲשֵׂה בְרֵאשִׁית:

uvṭuvo məchadesh bəkhol yom tamid ma‘aseh vəre’shit.

How many are Your works, Ineffable!

מָה־רַבּוּ מַעֲשֶֽׂיךָ יְיָ,

mah-rabu ma‘asekha Adonai,

You made them all in wisdom;

כֻּלָּם בְּחָכְמָה עָשִֽׂיתָ,

kulam bəchokhmah ‘asita,

the earth is full of what You have made.

מָלְאָה הָאָֽרֶץ קִנְיָנֶֽךָ:

malə’ah ha’aretz qinyanekha.

The Sovereign raised up alone since then,

הַמֶּֽלֶךְ הַמְּרוֹמָם לְבַדּוֹ מֵאָז,

extolled and glorified and lifted up from the days of old.

Master of our strength,

Rock of our stronghold,

צוּר מִשְׂגַּבֵּֽנוּ

Shield of our deliverance,

a stronghold for us.

מִשְׂגָּב בַּעֲדֵֽנוּ:

misgav ba‘adenu.

The blessed G-d, great in understanding,

אֵל בָּרוּךְ גְּדוֹל דֵּעָה,

el barukh gədol de‘ah,

prepared and made the brightness of the sun.

הֵכִין וּפָעַל זָהֳרֵי חַמָּה,

hekhin ufa‘al zohore chamah,

The Good One formed glory for that Name,

טוֹב יָצַר כָּבוֹד לִשְׁמוֹ,

ṭov yatzar kavod lishmo,

setting lights around that strength.

מְאוֹרוֹת נָתַן סְבִיבוֹת עֻזּוֹ,

mə’orot natan səvivot ‘uzo,

The chiefs of Their hosts are holy ones, lifting up the Almighty,

פִּנּוֹת צְבָאָיו קְדוֹשִׁים רוֹמְמֵי שַׁדַּי,

pinot tzəva’av qədoshim roməme shaday,

always telling the glory

תָּמִיד מְסַפְּרִים כְּבוֹד

tamid məsapərim kəvod

of G-d and Their holiness.

אֵל וּקְדֻשָּׁתוֹ:

el uqdushato.

May You be blessed, Ineffable our G-d,

תִּתְבָּרֵךְ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

titbarekh Adonai elohenu

in the heavens above and on the earth below,

בַּשָּׁמַֽיִם מִמַּֽעַל וְעַל הַאָֽרֶץ מִתָּֽחַת

qadosh qadosh qadosh Adonai tzəva’ot

the whole earth is full of that glory.

מְלֹא כָל־הָאָֽרֶץ כְּבוֹדוֹ:

who sows justice,

זוֹרֵֽעַ צְדָקוֹת

zorea‘ tzədaqot

who makes deliverance grow,

מַצְמִֽיחַ יְשׁוּעוֹת

matzmiach yəshu‘ot

who creates healing,

בּוֹרֵא רְפוּאוֹת

bore rəfu’ot

awesome in praises,

נוֹרָא תְהִלּוֹת

nora təhilot

master of wonders,

אֲדוֹן הַנִּפְלָאוֹת:

adon hanifla’ot.

who in goodness renews the work of creation every day, always,

הַמְחַדֵּשׁ בְּטוּבוֹ בְּכָל יוֹם תָּמִיד מַעֲשֵׂה בְרֵאשִׁית:

haməchadesh bəṭuvo bəkhol yom tamid ma‘aseh vəre’shit.

as it is said:

כָּאָמוּר

ka’amur

to the maker of great lights,

לְעֹשֵׂה אוֹרִים גְּדֹלִים

lə‘oseh orim gədolim

whose kindness is for ever.

כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ:

ki lə‘olam chasdo.

And who set the lights that gladden the world They created.

וְהִתְקִין מְאוֹרוֹת מְשַׂמֵּֽחַ עוֹלָמוֹ אֲשֶׁר בָּרָא.

vəhitqin mə’orot məsameach ‘olamo asher bara

Shine a new light on Tziyon,

אוֹר חָדָשׁ עַל צִיּוֹן תָּאִיר

or chadash ‘al tziyon ta’ir

and let us all soon be worthy of that light.

וְנִזְכֶּה כֻלָּֽנוּ בִּמְהֵרָה לְאוֹרוֹ:

vənizkeh khulanu bimherah lə’oro.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

who forms the lights.

וַתְּלַמְּדֵם חֻקֵּי חַיִּים לַעֲשׂוֹת רְצוֹנְךָ בְּלֵבָב שָׁלֵם

so be gracious to us and teach us.

כֵּן תְּחָנֵּֽנוּ וּתְלַמְּדֵֽנוּ:

ken təchanenu utlamədenu.

Our source, merciful source who has mercy,

אָבִֽינוּ אָב הָרַחֲמָן הַמְרַחֵם

avinu av harachaman hamərachem

have mercy on us,

רַחֵם עָלֵֽינוּ

and set in our heart the understanding to understand and discern,

וְתֵן בְּלִבֵּֽנוּ בִּינָה לְהָבִין וּלְהַשְׂכִּיל

to listen, to learn and to teach,

לִשְׁמֹֽעַ לִלְמוֹד וּלְלַמֵּד

lishmoa‘ lilmod uləlamed

to keep, to do and to fulfil

all the words of the study of Your Torah, in love.

אֶת־כָּל דִּבְרֵי־תַלְמוּד תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ בְּאַהֲבָה:

et-kol divre-talmud toratekha bə’ahavah.

Light our eyes in Your Torah,

וְהָאֵר עֵינֵֽינוּ בְּתוֹרָתֶֽךָ

vəha’er ‘enenu bətoratekha

and bind our heart to Your commandments,

וְדַבֵּק לִבֵּֽנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ

vədabeq libenu bəmitzvotekha

and make our heart one

וְיַחֵד לְבָבֵֽנוּ

vəyached ləvavenu

to love and to be in awe of Your Name.

לְאַהֲבָה וּלְיִרְאָה אֶת שְׁמֶֽךָ,

So that we are not shamed,

לְמַֽעַן לֹא נֵבוֹשׁ

ləma‘an lo nevosh

nor put to disgrace,

וְלֹא נִכָּלֵם

vəlo nikalem

nor stumble, for ever and ever.

וְלֹא נִכָּשֵׁל לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד,

vəlo nikashel lə‘olam va‘ed,

For in Your great, mighty and awesome holy Name we have trusted;

כִּי בְשֵׁם קָדְשְׁךָ הַגָּדוֹל הַגִּבּוֹר וְהַנּוֹרָא בָּטָֽחְנוּ

ki vəshem qodshəkha hagadol hagibor vəhanora baṭachənu

let us delight and rejoice in Your deliverance.

נָגִֽילָה וְנִשְׂמְחָה בִּישׁוּעָתֶֽךָ:

nagilah vənisməchah bishu‘atekha.

And Your mercy, Ineffable our G-d, and Your abundant kindnesses —

וְרַחֲמֶֽיךָ יְיָ אֶלֹהֵֽינוּ וַחֲסָדֶֽיךָ הָרַבִּים

vərachamekha Adonai elohenu vachasadekha harabim

may they never leave us.

אַל יַעַזְבֽוּנוּ נֶֽצַח סֶֽלָה וָעֶד:

al ya‘azvunu netzach selah va‘ed.

Hurry and bring upon us blessing and peace,

מַהֵר וְהָבֵא עָלֵֽינוּ בְּרָכָה וְשָׁלוֹם

maher vəhave ‘alenu bərakhah vəshalom

swiftly from the four corners of all the earth;

מְהֵרָה מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפוֹת כָּל הָאָֽרֶץ

məherah me’arba‘ kanfot kol ha’aretz

and break the yoke of the nations from our neck,

וּשְׁבוֹר עוֹל הַגּוֹיִם מֵעַל צַוָּארֵֽנוּ

ushvor ‘ol hagoyim me‘al tzava’renu

and lead us swiftly upright to our land.

וְתוֹלִיכֵֽנוּ מְהֵרָה קוֹמְמִיּוּת לְאַרְצֵֽנוּ:

vətolikhenu məherah qoməmiyut lə’artzenu.

For You are a G-d who works deliverance,

כִּי אֵל פּוֹעֵל יְשׁוּעוֹת אָֽתָּה

ki el po‘el yəshu‘ot atah

and You chose us from every people and tongue,

וּבָֽנוּ בָחַֽרְתָּ מִכָּל־עַם וְלָשׁוֹן

uvanu vacharta mikol-‘am vəlashon

and brought us near, our Sovereign, to Your great Name

וְקֵרַבְתָּֽנוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ לְשִׁמְךָ הַגָּדוֹל סֶֽלָה

vəqeravtanu malkenu ləshimkha hagadol selah

truly, in love,

בֶּאֱמֶת בְּאַהֲבָה

be’emet bə’ahavah

to thank You and to call You one, in love,

לְהוֹדוֹת לְךָ וּלְיַחֶדְךָ בְּאַהֲבָה

asher anokhi mətzavəkha hayom

shall be taken to your heart.

עַל־לְבָבֶֽךָ׃

‘al-ləvavekha.

And teach them to your descendants,

וְשִׁנַּנְתָּ֣ם לְבָנֶ֔יךָ

vəshinantam ləvanékha

and speak of them

וְדִבַּרְתָּ֖ בָּ֑ם

vədibarta bam

when you rest in your home,

בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ֤ בְּבֵיתֶ֙ךָ֙

bəshivtəkha bəvetékha

and when you go out on the way;

וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ֣ בַדֶּ֔רֶךְ

uvlekhtəkha vadérekh

when you lie down and when you rise up.

וּֽבְשׇׁכְבְּךָ֖ וּבְקוּמֶֽךָ׃

uvshokhbəkha uvqumekha.

Bind them as a sign upon your hand,

וּקְשַׁרְתָּ֥ם לְא֖וֹת עַל־יָדֶ֑ךָ

uqshartam lə’ot ‘al-yadékha

and as symbols between your eyes.

וְהָי֥וּ לְטֹטָפֹ֖ת בֵּ֥ין עֵינֶֽיךָ׃

vəhayu ləṭoṭafot ben ‘enekha.

Write them upon the doorposts of your house

וּכְתַבְתָּ֛ם עַל־מְזֻז֥וֹת בֵּיתֶ֖ךָ

ukhtavtam ‘al-məzuzot betékha

and on your gates.

וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ׃

uvish‘arekha.

And it shall be,

וְהָיָ֗ה

vəhayah

if you truly listen to My commandments

אִם־שָׁמֹ֤עַ תִּשְׁמְעוּ֙ אֶל־מִצְוֺתַ֔י

im-shamóa‘ tishmə‘u el-mitzvotay

which I

אֲשֶׁ֧ר אָנֹכִ֛י

asher anokhi

tell you today,

מְצַוֶּ֥ה אֶתְכֶ֖ם הַיּ֑וֹם

mətzaveh etkhem hayom

to love The Ineffable your G-d

לְאַהֲבָ֞ה אֶת־יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙

lə’ahavah et-Adonai elohekhem

and to serve The Ineffable with your whole heart

וּלְעׇבְד֔וֹ בְּכׇל־לְבַבְכֶ֖ם

ul‘ovdo bəkhol-ləvavkhem

and your whole soul,

וּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁכֶֽם׃

uvkhol-nafshəkhem.

then I shall give the rain of your land

וְנָתַתִּ֧י מְטַֽר־אַרְצְכֶ֛ם

vənatati məṭar-artzəkhem

in its season, the early rain and the late rain,

בְּעִתּ֖וֹ יוֹרֶ֣ה וּמַלְק֑וֹשׁ

bə‘ito yoreh umalqosh

and you shall gather in your grain,

וְאָסַפְתָּ֣ דְגָנֶ֔ךָ

və’asafta dəganékha

your wine and your oil.

וְתִירֹֽשְׁךָ֖ וְיִצְהָרֶֽךָ׃

vətiroshəkha vəyitzharekha.

And I shall give grass in your field

וְנָתַתִּ֛י עֵ֥שֶׂב בְּשָׂדְךָ֖

vənatati ‘ésev bəsadəkha

for your animals,

לִבְהֶמְתֶּ֑ךָ

livhemtékha

and you shall eat and be satisfied.

וְאָכַלְתָּ֖ וְשָׂבָֽעְתָּ׃

və’akhalta vəsava‘əta.

Take care for yourselves,

הִשָּֽׁמְר֣וּ לָכֶ֔ם

hishaməru lakhem

lest your heart be seduced, and you turn away

פֶּ֥ן יִפְתֶּ֖ה לְבַבְכֶ֑ם וְסַרְתֶּ֗ם

pen yifteh ləvavkhem vəsartem

and serve other gods

וַעֲבַדְתֶּם֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים

va‘avadtem elohim acherim

and bow down to them.

וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶ֖ם לָהֶֽם׃

vəhishtachavitem lahem.

Then the anger of The Ineffable will flare against you,

וְחָרָה אַף־יְיָ בָּכֶם

vəcharah af-Adonai bakhem

and the heavens be shut, and there be no rain,

וְעָצַר אֶת־הַשָּׁמַֽיִם וְלֹּא־יִהְיֶה מָטָר

və‘atzar et-hashamayim vəlo-yihyeh maṭar

and the ground not give its yield,

וְהָאֲדָמָה לֹא תִתֵּן אֶת־יְבוּלָהּ

vəha’adamah lo titen et-yəvulah

and you will soon be lost from the good land

וַאֲבַדְתֶּם מְהֵרָה מֵעַל הָאָֽרֶץ הַטֹּבָה

va’avadtem məherah me‘al ha’aretz haṭovah

which The Ineffable is giving you.

אֲשֶׁר יְיָ נֹתֵן לָכֶם

asher Adonai noten lakhem

So set these words of mine

וְשַׂמְתֶּם אֶת־דְּבָרַי אֵֽלֶּה

vəsamtem et-dəvaray eleh

upon your heart and upon your soul,

עַל־לְבַבְכֶם וְעַל־נַפְשְׁכֶם

‘al-ləvavkhem və‘al-nafshəkhem

and bind them as a sign upon your hand,

וּקְשַׁרְתֶּם אֹתָם לְאוֹת עַלּ־יֶּדְכֶם

uqshartem otam lə’ot ‘al-yedkhem

and as symbols between your eyes.

וְהָיוּ לְטוֹטָפֹת בֵּין עֵינֵיכֶם

vəhayu ləṭoṭafot ben ‘enekhem

And teach them to your descendants, to speak of them

וְלִמַּדְתֶּם אֹתָם אֶת־בְּנֵיכֶם לְדַבֵּר בָּם

vəlimadtem otam et-bənekhem lədaber bam

when you rest in your home,

בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ בְּבֵיתֶֽךָ

bəshivtəkha bəvetekha

and when you go out on the way;

וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ בַדֶּֽרֶךְ

uvlekhtəkha vaderekh

when you lie down and when you rise up.

וּבְשָׁכְבְּךָ וּבְקוּמֶֽךָ

uvshakhəbəkha uvqumekha

Write them upon the doorposts of your house

וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל־מְזוּזוֹת בֵּיתֶֽךָ

ukhtavtam ‘al-məzuzot betekha

and on your gates,

וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ

uvish‘arekha

so that your days may be many,

לְמַֽעַן יִרְבּוּ יְמֵיכֶם

ləma‘an yirbu yəmekhem

and the days of your children, upon the land

וִימֵי בְנֵיכֶם עַל הָאֲדָמָה

vime vənekhem ‘al ha’adamah

which The Ineffable swore to your ancestors to give them,

אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע יְיָ לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶם לָתֵת לָהֶם

asher nishba‘ Adonai la’avotekhem latet lahem

as the days of the heavens over the earth.

כִּימֵי הַשָּׁמַֽיִם עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ

kime hashamayim ‘al-ha’aretz

And The Ineffable said to Mosheh:

וַֽיֹּאמֶר יְיָ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר

vayo’mer Adonai el-mosheh le’mor

Speak to the children of Yisra’el, and say to them

דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם

daber el-bəne yisra’el və’amarta alehem

that they make themselves tassels

וְעָשׂוּ לָהֶם צִיצִת

və‘asu lahem tzitzit

on the corners of their garments, through their generations,

עַל־כַּנְפֵי בִגְדֵיהֶם לְדֹרֹתָם

‘al-kanfe vigdehem lədorotam

and set on the corner tassel a thread of blue.

וְנָתְנוּ עַל־צִיצִת הַכָּנָף פְּתִיל תְּכֵֽלֶת

vənatənu ‘al-tzitzit hakanaf pətil təkhelet

And it shall be your tassel:

וְהָיָה לָכֶם לְצִיצִת

vəhayah lakhem lətzitzit

you are to look at it

וּרְאִיתֶם אֹתוֹ

ur’item oto

and remember all the commandments of The Ineffable

וּזְכַרְתֶּם אֶת־כָּל־מִצְוֹת יְיָ

uzkhartem et-kol-mitzvot Adonai

and do them,

וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם

va‘asitem otam

and not go scouting after your own heart

וְלֹא תָתֻרוּ אַחֲרֵי לְבַבְכֶם

vəlo taturu achare ləvavkhem

and after your own eyes,

וְאַחֲרֵי עֵינֵיכֶם

və’achare ‘enekhem

which lead you astray.

אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּם זֹנִים אַחֲרֵיהֶם

asher-atem zonim acharehem

So that you remember

לְמַֽעַן תִּזְכְּרוּ

ləma‘an tizkəru

and do all my commandments,

וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֶת־כָּל־מִצְוֹתָי

va‘asitem et-kol-mitzvotay

and are holy to your G-d.

וִהְיִיתֶם קְדשִׁים לֵאלֹהֵיכֶם

vihyitem qədshim le’lohekhem

I am The Ineffable your G-d,

אֲנִי יְיָ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם

ani Adonai elohekhem

who brought you out of the land of Mitzrayim

אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵֽאתִי אֶתְכֶם מֵּאֶֽרֶץ מִצְרַֽיִם

asher hotze’ti etkhem me’eretz mitzrayim

to be your G-d.

לִהְיוֹת לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים

lihyot lakhem le’lohim

I am The Ineffable your G-d.

אֲנִי יְיָ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם

ani Adonai elohekhem

And firm, established and enduring, upright and faithful,

וְיַצִּיב וְנָכוֹן וְקַיָּם וְיָשָׁר וְנֶאֱמָן

vəyatziv vənakhon vəqayam vəyashar vəne’eman

loved and dear, delightful and pleasant, awesome,

וְאָהוּב וְחָבִיב וְנֶחְמָד וְנָעִים וְנוֹרָא

və’ahuv vəchaviv vənechmad vəna‘im vənora

mighty and well-ordered, accepted, good and beautiful

וְאַדִּיר וּמְתֻקָּן וּמְקֻבָּל וְטוֹב וְיָפֶה

və’adir umtuqan umqubal vəṭov vəyafeh

is this word for us, for ever and ever.

הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה עָלֵֽינוּ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:

hadavar hazeh ‘alenu lə‘olam va‘ed.

Truly, the eternal G-d is our Sovereign,

אֱמֶת אֱלֹהֵי עוֹלָם מַלְכֵּֽנוּ

emet elohe ‘olam malkenu

Rock of Ya’aqov, Shield of our deliverance;

צוּר יַעֲקֹב מָגֵן יִשְׁעֵֽנוּ,

tzur ya‘aqov magen yish‘enu,

from age to age that One endures,

לְדֹר וָדֹר הוּא קַיָּם

lədor vador hu qayam

and that Name endures, and that throne is established,

וּשְׁמוֹ קַיָּם וְכִסְאוֹ נָכוֹן

ushmo qayam vəkhis’o nakhon

and that reign and faithfulness endure for ever.

וּמַלְכוּתוֹ וֶאֱמוּנָתוֹ לָעַד קַיָּֽמֶת:

umalkhuto ve’emunato la‘ad qayamet.

Those words are living and enduring,

וּדְבָרָיו חָיִים וְקַיָּמִים

udvarav chayim vəqayamim

faithful and delightful for ever and to all eternity,

נֶאֱמָנִים וְנֶחֱמָדִים לָעַד וּלְעוֹלְמֵי עוֹלָמִים,

ne’emanim vənechemadim la‘ad ul‘oləme ‘olamim,

over our ancestors and over us,

עַל אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ וְעָלֵֽינוּ

‘al avotenu və‘alenu

over our children and over our generations,

עַל בָּנֵֽינוּ וְעַל דּוֹרוֹתֵֽינוּ

‘al banenu və‘al dorotenu

and over all the generations of the seed of Yisra’el who serve You.

וְעַל כָּל דּוֹרוֹת זֶֽרַע יִשְׂרָאֵל עֲבָדֶֽיךָ:

və‘al kol dorot zera‘ yisra’el ‘avadekha.

Over the first and over the last,

עַל הָרִאשׁוֹנִים וְעַל הָאַחֲרוֹנִים

‘al hari’shonim və‘al ha’acharonim

this word is good and endures for ever and ever:

דָּבָר טוֹב וְקַיָּם לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד,

davar ṭov vəqayam lə‘olam va‘ed,

truth and faith, a law that does not pass.

אֱמֶת וֶאֱמוּנָה חוֹק וְלֹא יַעֲבֹר:

emet ve’emunah choq vəlo ya‘avor.

Truly, You are The Ineffable our G-d

אֱמֶת שָׁאַתָּה הוּא יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

emet sha’atah hu Adonai elohenu

and G-d of our ancestors, our Sovereign,

וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ

ve’lohe avotenu malkenu

the Sovereign of our ancestors, our redeemer,

מֶֽלֶךְ אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ גֹּאֲלֵֽנוּ

melekh avotenu go’alenu

the redeemer of our ancestors, our maker,

גֹּאֵל אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ יוֹצְרֵֽנוּ

go’el avotenu yotzərenu

Rock of our deliverance, who ransoms and delivers us.

צוּר יְשׁוּעָתֵֽנוּ פּוֹדֵֽנוּ וּמַצִּילֵֽנוּ

tzur yəshu‘atenu podenu umatzilenu

That has always been Your Name,

מֵעוֹלָם הוּא שְׁמֶֽךָ

me‘olam hu shəmekha

and we have no other G-d besides You.

וְאֵין לָֽנוּ עוֹד אֱלֹהִים זוּלָתֶֽךָ סֶֽלָה:

və’en lanu ‘od elohim zulatekha selah.

You were the help of our ancestors from of old,

עֶזְרַת אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ אַתָּה הוּא

‘ezrat avotenu atah hu

a shield and deliverance for them and for their children after them,

מֵעוֹלָם מָגֵן וּמוֹשִֽׁיעַ לָהֶם וְלִבְנֵיהֶם אַחֲרֵיהֶם

me‘olam magen umoshia‘ lahem vəlivnehem acharehem

in every generation.

בְּכָל דּוֹר וָדוֹר:

bəkhol dor vador.

Your dwelling is in the height of the world,

בְּרוּם עוֹלָם מוֹשָׁבֶֽךָ

bərum ‘olam moshavekha

and Your judgements and justice reach the ends of the earth.

וּמִשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ וְצִדְקָתְךָ עַד אַפְסֵי אָֽרֶץ:

umishpaṭekha vətzidqatəkha ‘ad afse aretz.

Truly, happy are those who listen to Your commandments,

אֶמֶת אַשְׁרֵי אִישׁ שֶׁיִּשְׁמַע לְמִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ

emet ashre ish sheyishma‘ ləmitzvotekha

and set Your Torah and Your word upon their heart.

וְתוֹרָתְךָ וּדְבָרְךָ יָשִׂים עַל לִבּוֹ:

vətoratəkha udvarəkha yasim ‘al libo.

Truly, You are the master of Your people,

אֱמֶת אַתָּה הוּא אָדוֹן לְעַמֶּֽךָ

emet atah hu adon lə‘amekha

a mighty Sovereign to take up their cause, for parents and children.

וּמֶֽלֶךְ גִּבּוֹר לָרִיב רִיבָם לאָבוֹת וּבָנִים:

umelekh gibor lariv rivam l’avot uvanim.

Truly, You are the first,

אֱמֶת אַתָּה הוּא רִאשׁוֹן

emet atah hu ri’shon

and You are the last,

וְאַתָּה הוּא אַחֲרוֹן

və’atah hu acharon

and besides You we have no Sovereign, redeemer or deliverer.

וּמִבַּלְעָדֶֽיךָ אֵין לָֽנוּ מֶֽלֶךְ גּוֹאֵל וּמוֹשִֽׁיעַ:

umibal‘adekha en lanu melekh go’el umoshia‘.

Truly, from Mitzrayim You redeemed us, Ineffable our G-d,

אֱמֶת מִמִּצְרַֽיִם גְּאַלְתָּֽנוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

emet mimitzrayim gə’altanu Adonai elohenu

and from the house of slaves You ransomed us.

וּמִבֵּית עֲבָדִים פְּדִיתָֽנוּ:

umibet ‘avadim pəditanu.

All their firstborn You struck down,

כָּל בְּכוֹרֵיהֶם הָרָֽגְתָּ

kol bəkhorehem haragəta

and Your firstborn Yisra’el You redeemed;

וּבְכוֹרְךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל גָּאָֽלְתָּ

uvkhorəkha yisra’el ga’aləta

and the Sea of Reeds You split for them,

וְיַם סוּף לָהֶם בָּקַֽעְתָּ

vəyam suf lahem baqa‘ta

and the insolent You sank, and the beloved You brought across,

וְזֵדִים טִבַּֽעְתָּ וִידִידִים הֶעֱבַֽרְתָּ

vəzedim ṭiba‘ta vididim he‘evarta

and the waters covered their oppressors —

וַיְכַסּוּ מַֽיִם צָרֵיהֶם

vayəkhasu mayim tzarehem

not one of them was left.

אֶחָד מֵהֶם לֹא נוֹתָר:

echad mehem lo notar.

For this the loved ones praised and exalted G-d,

עַל זֹאת שִׁבְּחוּ אֲהוּבִים וְרוֹמְמוּ לָאֵל

‘al zo’t shibəchu ahuvim vəroməmu la’el

and the beloved gave melodies, songs and praises,

וְנָתְנוּ יְדִידִים זְמִירוֹת שִׁירוֹת וְתִשְׁבָּחוֹת

vənatənu yədidim zəmirot shirot vətishbachot

blessings and thanks to the Sovereign, the living and enduring G-d,

בְּרָכוֹת וְהוֹדָאוֹת לְמֶּֽלֶךְ אֵל חַי וְקַיָּם:

bərakhot vəhoda’ot ləmelekh el chay vəqayam.

high and lifted up, great and awesome,

רָם וְנִשָּׂא גָּדוֹל וְנוֹרָא

ram vənisa gadol vənora

who brings the proud down to the earth,

מַשְׁפִּיל גֵּאִים עֲדֵי אָֽרֶץ

mashpil ge’im ‘ade aretz

and lifts the lowly to the heights,

וּמַגְבִּֽיהַּ שְׁפָלִים עֲדֵי מָרוֹם

umagbiah shəfalim ‘ade marom

who brings out the bound, and ransoms the humble,

מוֹצִיא אֲסִירִים וּפוֹדֶה עֲנָוִים

motzi asirim ufodeh ‘anavim

and helps the poor,

וְעוֹזֵר דַּלִּים

və‘ozer dalim

and answers the people Yisra’el in the hour they cry out.

וְעוֹנֶה לְעַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעֵת שַׁוְּעָם אֵלָיו:

və‘oneh lə‘amo yisra’el bə‘et shavə‘am elav.

Praises to G-d most high, their redeemer —

תְּהִלּוֹת לְאֵל עֶלְיוֹן גֹּאֲלָם

təhilot lə’el ‘elyon go’alam

blessed is that One, and blessed.

בָּרוּךְ הוּא וּמְבֹרָךְ,

barukh hu umvorakh,

Mosheh and the children of Yisra’el, to You they answered with song

משֶׁה וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְךָ עָנוּ שִׁירָה

msheh uvne yisra’el ləkha ‘anu shirah

in great joy, and all of them said:

בְּשִׂמְחָה רַבָּה וְאָמְרוּ כֻלָּם:

bəsimchah rabah və’aməru khulam.

Who is like You among the mighty, O Ineffable?

מִי כָמֹֽכָה בָּאֵלִם יְיָ

mi khamokhah ba’elim Adonai

Who is like You, majestic in holiness,

מִי כָּמֹֽכָה נֶאְדָּר בַּקֹּֽדֶשׁ

mi kamokhah ne’dar baqodesh

awesome in praises, working wonders?

נוֹרָא תְהִלֹּת עֹֽשֵׂה פֶֽלֶא:

nora təhilot ‘oseh fele.

A new song the redeemed sang to Your great Name

שִׁירָה חֲדָשָׁה שִׁבְּחוּ גְאוּלִים לְשִׁמְךָ הַגָּדוֹל

shirah chadashah shibəchu gə’ulim ləshimkha hagadol

at the shore of the sea; together, all of them

עַל שְׂפַת הַיָּם יַֽחַד כֻּלָּם

‘al səfat hayam yachad kulam

gave thanks, crowned You, and said:

הוֹדוּ וְהִמְלִֽיכוּ וְאָמְרוּ:

hodu vəhimlikhu və’aməru.

The Ineffable shall reign for ever and ever.

יְיָ יִמְלֹךְ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:

Adonai yimlokh lə‘olam va‘ed.

Rock of Yisra’el, rise to the help of Yisra’el,

צוּר יִשְׂרָאֵל קֽוּמָה בְּעֶזְרַת יִשְׂרָאֵל

tzur yisra’el qumah bə‘ezrat yisra’el

and ransom, as You promised, Yehudah and Yisra’el.

וּפְדֵה כִנְאֻמֶֽךָ יְהוּדָה וְיִשְׂרָאֵל,

ufdeh khin’umekha yəhudah vəyisra’el,

And it is said: our redeemer is The Ineffable of Arrays,

וְנֶאֱמַר: גֹּאֲלֵֽנוּ יְיָ צְבָאוֹת שְׁמוֹ

vəne’emar go’alenu Adonai tzəva’ot shəmo

the Holy One of Yisra’el.

קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל:

qədosh yisra’el.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable,

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ

barukh atah Adonai

who redeemed Yisra’el.

גָּאַל יִשְׂרָאֵל:

ga’al yisra’el.

My Sovereign, open my lips, and my mouth shall tell Your praise.

אֲדֹנָי שְׂפָתַי תִּפְתָּח וּפִי יַגִּיד תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ:

adonay səfatay tiftach ufi yagid təhilatekha.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, our G-d and G-d of our fathers and our mothers,

⢣ בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ⡇ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ וְאִמּוֹתֵֽינוּ

⢣ barukh atah ⡇ Adonai elohenu ve’lohe avotenu və’imotenu

G-d of Avraham, G-d of Yitzchak and G-d of Ya’aqov,

אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם אֱלֹהֵי יִצְחָק וֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב

elohe avraham elohe yitzchaq ve’lohe ya‘aqov

G-d of Sarah, G-d of Rivqah, G-d of Rachel and G-d of Le’ah,

אֱלֹהֵי שָׂרָה אֱלֹהֵי רִבְקָה אֱלֹהֵי רָחֵל וֵאלֹהֵי לֵאָה

elohe sarah elohe rivqah elohe rachel ve’lohe le’ah

the great, mighty and awesome G-d, G-d most high,

הָאֵל הַגָּדוֹל הַגִּבּוֹר וְהַנּוֹרָא אֵל עֶלְיוֹן

ha’el hagadol hagibor vəhanora el ‘elyon

who deals in kindness and possesses all,

גּוֹמֵל חֲסָדִים טוֹבִים וְקוֹנֵה הַכֹּל

gomel chasadim ṭovim vəqoneh hakol

who remembers the kindness of the fathers and the mothers,

וְזוֹכֵר חַסְדֵי אָבוֹת וְאִמָּהוֹת

vəzokher chasde avot və’imahot

and brings a redeemer to their children’s children, for the sake of that Name, in love.

וּמֵבִיא גוֹאֵל לִבְנֵי בְנֵיהֶם לְמַֽעַן שְׁמוֹ בְּאַהֲבָה:

umevi go’el livne vənehem ləma‘an shəmo bə’ahavah.

Sovereign who helps and saves and shields.

מֶֽלֶךְ עוֹזֵר וּמוֹשִֽׁיעַ וּמָגֵן:

melekh ‘ozer umoshia‘ umagen.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, shield of Avraham and help of Sarah.

⢣ בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ⡇ יְיָ מָגֵן אַבְרָהָם וְעֶזְרַת שָׂרָה:

⢣ barukh atah ⡇ Adonai magen avraham və‘ezrat sarah.

You are mighty for ever, my Sovereign, who gives life to the dead; great is Your saving power.

אַתָּה גִבּוֹר לְעוֹלָם אֲדֹנָי מְחַיֶּה מֵתִים אַתָּה רַב לְהוֹשִֽׁיעַ:

atah gibor lə‘olam adonay məchayeh metim atah rav ləhoshia‘.

You sustain the living in kindness, and give life to the dead in great mercy,

מְכַלְכֵּל חַיִּים בְּחֶֽסֶד מְחַיֵּה מֵתִים בְּרַחֲמִים רַבִּים

məkhalkel chayim bəchesed məchayeh metim bərachamim rabim

holding up those who fall, healing the sick, freeing the bound,

סוֹמֵךְ נוֹפְלִים וְרוֹפֵא חוֹלִים וּמַתִּיר אֲסוּרִים

somekh nofəlim vərofe cholim umatir asurim

and keeping faith with those who sleep in the dust.

וּמְקַיֵּם אֱמוּנָתוֹ לִישֵׁנֵי עָפָר,

umqayem emunato lishene ‘afar,

Who is like You, master of powers, and who compares to You —

מִי כָמֽוֹךָ בַּֽעַל גְּבוּרוֹת וּמִי דּֽוֹמֶה לָּךְ

mi khamokha ba‘al gəvurot umi domeh lakh

a Sovereign who brings death and life, and makes deliverance grow?

מֶֽלֶךְ מֵמִית וּמְחַיֶּה וּמַצְמִֽיחַ יְשׁוּעָה:

melekh memit umchayeh umatzmiach yəshu‘ah.

And You are faithful to give life to the dead.

וְנֶאֱמָן אַתָּה לְהַחֲיוֹת מֵתִים:

vəne’eman atah ləhachayot metim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who gives life to the dead.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מְחַיֵּה הַמֵּתִים:

barukh atah Adonai məchayeh hametim.

You are holy and Your Name is holy, and holy ones praise You every day.

אַתָּה קָדוֹשׁ וְשִׁמְךָ קָדוֹשׁ וּקְדוֹשִׁים בְּכָל יוֹם יְהַלְלֽוּךָ סֶּֽלָה:

atah qadosh vəshimkha qadosh uqdoshim bəkhol yom yəhaləlukha selah.

For You are a great and holy Sovereign.

כִּי אֵל מֶֽלֶךְ גָּדוֹל וְקָדוֹשׁ אָֽתָּה:

ki el melekh gadol vəqadosh atah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, the holy G-d.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הָאֵל הַקָּדוֹשׁ:

barukh atah Adonai ha’el haqadosh.

You give knowledge to humankind, and teach understanding to mortals.

אַתָּה חוֹנֵן לְאָדָם דַּֽעַת וּמְלַמֵּד לֶאֱנוֹשׁ בִּינָה:

atah chonen lə’adam da‘at umlamed le’enosh binah.

Grant us from Yourself wisdom, understanding and knowledge.

חָנֵּֽנוּ מֵאִתְּךָ חָכְמָה בִּינָה וָדָּעַת:

chanenu me’itəkha chokhmah binah vada‘at.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who gives knowledge.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ חוֹנֵן הַדָּֽעַת:

barukh atah Adonai chonen hada‘at.

Return us, our source, to Your Torah,

הֲשִׁיבֵֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ לְתוֹרָתֶֽךָ

hashivenu avinu lətoratekha

and draw us near, our Sovereign, to Your service,

וְקָרְבֵֽנוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ לַעֲבוֹדָתֶֽךָ

vəqarəvenu malkenu la‘avodatekha

and bring us back in whole return before You.

וְהַחֲזִירֵֽנוּ בִּתְשׁוּבָה שְׁלֵמָה לְפָנֶֽיךָ:

vəhachazirenu bitshuvah shəlemah ləfanekha.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who desires return.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הָרוֹצֶה בִּתְשׁוּבָה:

barukh atah Adonai harotzeh bitshuvah.

Forgive us, our source, for we have erred;

סְלַח לָֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ כִּי חָטָֽאנוּ

səlach lanu avinu ki chaṭa’nu

pardon us, our Sovereign, for we have transgressed;

מְחַל לָֽנוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ כִּי פָשָֽׁעְנוּ

məchal lanu malkenu ki fasha‘ənu

for You are a good and forgiving G-d.

כִּי אֵל טוֹב וְסַלָח אָֽתָּה:

ki el ṭov vəsalach atah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, gracious and abundant in forgiveness.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ חַנּוּן הַמַּרְבֶּה לִסְלֽוֹחַ:

barukh atah Adonai chanun hamarbeh lisloach.

Look on our affliction and take up our cause,

רְאֵה נָא בְעָנְיֵֽנוּ וְרִֽיבָה רִיבֵֽנוּ

rə’eh na və‘onyenu vərivah rivenu

and redeem us in whole redemption, swiftly, for the sake of Your Name,

וּגְאָלֵֽנוּ גְאוּלָה שְׁלֵמָה מְהֵרָה לְמַֽעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ

ug’alenu gə’ulah shəlemah məherah ləma‘an shəmekha

for You are a mighty redeeming G-d.

כִּי אֵל גּוֹאֵל חָזָק אָֽתָּה:

ki el go’el chazaq atah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, redeemer of Yisra’el.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ גּוֹאֵל יִשְׂרָאֵל:

barukh atah Adonai go’el yisra’el.

Heal us, Ineffable, and we shall be healed; save us, and we shall be saved,

רְפָאֵֽנוּ יְיָ וְנֵרָפֵא הוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה

rəfa’enu Adonai vənerafe hoshi‘enu vənivashe‘ah

for You are our praise.

כִּי תְהִלָּתֵֽנוּ אָֽתָּה

ki təhilatenu atah

Bring a full healing to all our sicknesses, our pains and our wounds,

וְהַעֲלֵה אֲרוּכָה וּמַרְפֵּא לְכָל תַּחֲלוּאֵֽינוּ וּלְכָל מַכְאוֹבֵֽינוּ וּלְכָל מַכּוֹתֵֽינוּ

vəha‘aleh arukhah umarpe ləkhol tachalu’enu ulkhol makh’ovenu ulkhol makotenu

for You are a Sovereign who heals, faithful and merciful.

כִּי אֵל מֶֽלֶךְ רוֹפֵא נֶאֱמָן וְרַחֲמָן אָֽתָּה:

ki el melekh rofe ne’eman vərachaman atah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who heals the sick of the people Yisra’el.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ רוֹפֵא חוֹלֵי עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל:

barukh atah Adonai rofe chole ‘amo yisra’el.

Bless this year for us, Ineffable our G-d, and all its kinds of produce, for good,

בָּרֵךְ עָלֵֽינוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ אֶת־הַשָּׁנָה הַזֹּאת וְאֶת־כָּל־מִינֵי תְבוּאָתָהּ לְטוֹבָה,

barekh ‘alenu Adonai elohenu et-hashanah hazo’t və’et-kol-mine təvu’atah ləṭovah,

and give upon the face of the earth, and satisfy us from Your goodness,

וְתֵן עַל־פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה וְשַׂבְּעֵֽנוּ מִטּוּבֶֽךָ

vəten ‘al-pəne ha’adamah vəsabə‘enu miṭuvekha

and bless our year like the good years, for blessing,

וּבָרֵךְ שְׁנוֹתֵנוּ כַּשָּׁנִים הַטּוֹבוֹת לִבְרָכָה

uvarekh shənotenu kashanim haṭovot livrakhah

for You are a good and generous G-d who blesses the years.

כִּי אֵל טוֹב וּמֵטִיב אַתָּה וּמְבָרֵךְ הַשָּׁנִים:

ki el ṭov umeṭiv atah umvarekh hashanim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who blesses the years.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מְבָרֵךְ הַשָּׁנִים:

barukh atah Adonai məvarekh hashanim.

Sound the great shofar for our freedom,

תְּקַע בְּשׁוֹפָר גָּדוֹל לְחֵרוּתֵֽנוּ

təqa‘ bəshofar gadol ləcherutenu

and raise a banner to gather in our exiles,

וְשָׂא נֵס לְקַבֵּץ גָּלֻיּוֹתֵֽינוּ

vəsa nes ləqabetz galuyotenu

and gather us together swiftly from the four corners of the earth to our land.

וְקַבְּצֵֽנוּ יַֽחַד מְהֵרָה מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפוֹת הָאָֽרֶץ לְאַרְצֵֽנוּ:

vəqabətzenu yachad məherah me’arba‘ kanfot ha’aretz lə’artzenu.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who gathers in the scattered of the people Yisra’el.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מְקַבֵּץ נִדְחֵי עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל:

barukh atah Adonai məqabetz nidche ‘amo yisra’el.

Restore our judges as at first, and our counsellors as at the beginning,

הָשִֽׁיבָה שׁוֹפְטֵֽינוּ כְּבָרִאשׁוֹנָה וְיוֹעֲצֵֽינוּ כְּבַתְּחִלָּה

hashivah shofəṭenu kəvari’shonah vəyo‘atzenu kəvatəchilah

and take from us sorrow and sighing,

וְהָסֵר מִמֶּֽנּוּ יָגוֹן וַאֲנָחָה

vəhaser mimenu yagon va’anachah

and reign over us swiftly, You alone, Ineffable, in kindness and mercy,

וּמְלוֹךְ עָלֵֽינוּ מְהֵרָה אַתָּה יְיָ לְבַדְּךָ בְּחֶֽסֶד וּבְרַחֲמִים

umlokh ‘alenu məherah atah Adonai ləvadəkha bəchesed uvrachamim

and make us just in justice and judgement.

וְצַדְּקֵֽנוּ בְּצֶֽדֶק וּבְמִשְׁפָּט:

vətzadəqenu bətzedeq uvmishpaṭ.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, Sovereign who loves justice and judgement.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מֶֽלֶךְ אֹהֵב צְדָקָה וּמִשְׁפָּט:

barukh atah Adonai melekh ohev tzədaqah umishpaṭ.

Let there be no hope for informers, and let all wickedness perish in an instant, and all the enemies of Your people be cut off swiftly,

וְלַמַּלְשִׁינִים אַל תְּהִי תִקְוָה וְכָל הַמִּינִים כְּרֶגַע יֹאבֵדוּ וְכָל אוֹיְבֵי עַמְּךָ מְהֵרָה יִכָּרֵֽתוּ,

vəlamalshinim al təhi tiqvah vəkhol haminim kərega‘ yo’vedu vəkhol oyəve ‘aməkha məherah yikaretu,

and the insolent swiftly uprooted, broken, thrown down, humbled and brought low, swiftly, in our days.

וְהַזֵּדִים מְהֵרָה תְעַקֵּר וּתְשַׁבֵּר וּתְמַגֵּר וּתְכַלֵם וְתַשְׁפִּילֵם וְתַכְנִיעֵם בִּמְהֵרָה בְיָמֵֽינוּ:

vəhazedim məherah tə‘aqer utshaber utmager utkhalem vətashpilem vətakhni‘em bimherah vəyamenu.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who breaks enemies and humbles the insolent.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ שׁוֹבֵר אֹיְבִים וּמַכְנִֽיעַ זֵדִים:

barukh atah Adonai shover oyəvim umakhnia‘ zedim.

On the just and on the faithful,

עַל־הַצַּדִּיקִים וְעַל־הַחֲסִידִים

‘al-hatzadiqim və‘al-hachasidim

and on the elders of the remnant of Your people, the House of Yisra’el,

וְעַל־זִקְנֵי שְׁאֵרִית עַמְּךָ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל

və‘al-ziqne shə’erit ‘aməkha bet yisra’el

and on the remnant of their scholars, and on the righteous stranger, and on us —

וְעַל־פְּלֵיטַת סוֹפְרֵיהֶם וְעַל־גֵּרֵי הַצֶּֽדֶק וְעָלֵֽינוּ

və‘al-pəleṭat sofərehem və‘al-gere hatzedeq və‘alenu

let Your mercy stir, Ineffable our G-d,

יֶהֱמוּ נָא רַחֲמֶֽיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

yehemu na rachamekha Adonai elohenu

and give a good reward to all who truly trust in Your Name.

וְתֵן שָׂכָר טוֹב לְכָל־הַבּוֹטְחִים בְּשִׁמְךָ בֶּאֱמֶת

vəten sakhar ṭov ləkhol-haboṭəchim bəshimkha be’emet

Set our portion with them, and let us never be shamed,

וְשִׂים חֶלְקֵֽנוּ עִמָּהֶם וּלְעוֹלָם לֹא נֵבוֹשׁ

vəsim chelqenu ‘imahem ul‘olam lo nevosh

for in You we have trusted, and on Your great kindness we have truly leaned.

כִּי בְךָ בָטָֽחְנוּ וְעַל חַסְדְּךָ הַגָּדוֹל בֶּאֱמֶת נִשְׁעָנְנוּ:

ki vəkha vaṭachənu və‘al chasdəkha hagadol be’emet nish‘anənu.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, support and assurance of the just.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מִשְׁעָן וּמִבְטָח לַצַּדִּיקִים:

barukh atah Adonai mish‘an umivṭach latzadiqim.

Return in mercy to Yerushalayim Your city, and dwell within it as You promised,

וְלִירוּשָׁלַֽיִם עִירְךָ בְּרַחֲמִים תָּשׁוּב וְתִשְׁכּוֹן בְּתוֹכָהּ כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ

vəlirushaláyim ‘irəkha bərachamim tashuv vətishkon bətokhah ka’asher dibarta

and rebuild it soon, in our days, a building for all time,

וּבְנֵה אוֹתָהּ בְּקָרוֹב בְּיָמֵֽינוּ בִּנְיַן עוֹלָם

uvneh otah bəqarov bəyamenu binyan ‘olam

and the throne of David Your servant —

וְכִסֵּא דָוִד עַבְדֶּךָ,

vəkhise david ‘avdekha,

establish it swiftly within.

מְהֵרָה לְתוֹכָהּ תָּכִין:

məherah lətokhah takhin.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who builds Yerushalayim.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ בּוֹנֵה יְרוּשָׁלָֽיִם:

barukh atah Adonai boneh yərushaláyim.

Make the offshoot of David Your servant flourish soon, and raise their horn in Your deliverance,

אֶת־צֶֽמַח דָּוִד עַבְדְּךָ מְהֵרָה תַצְמִֽיחַ וְקַרְנוֹ תָּרוּם בִּישׁוּעָתֶֽךָ,

et-tzemach david ‘avdəkha məherah tatzmiach vəqarno tarum bishu‘atekha,

for we have hoped for Your deliverance all day, and look for it.

כִּי לִישׁוּעָתְךָ קִוִּינוּ כָּל הַיּוֹם וּמְצַפִּים לִישׁוּעָה:

ki lishu‘atəkha qivinu kol hayom umtzapim lishu‘ah.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who makes the horn of deliverance grow.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ מַצְמִֽיחַ קֶֽרֶן יְשׁוּעָה:

barukh atah Adonai matzmiach qeren yəshu‘ah.

Merciful source, hear our voice, Ineffable our G-d,

אָב הָרַחֲמָן שְׁמַע קוֹלֵֽנוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

av harachaman shəma‘ qolenu Adonai elohenu

spare us and have mercy on us,

חוּס וְרַחֵם עָלֵֽינוּ

chus vərachem ‘alenu

and receive our prayer in mercy and favour,

וְקַבֵּל בְּרַחֲמִים וּבְרָצוֹן אֶת תְּפִלָּתֵֽנוּ,

vəqabel bərachamim uvratzon et təfilatenu,

for You are a G-d who hears prayers and pleading,

כִּי אֵל שׁוֹמֵֽעַ תְּפִלּוֹת וְתַחֲנוּנִים אָֽתָּה

ki el shomea‘ təfilot vətachanunim atah

and from before You, our Sovereign, do not turn us away empty,

וּמִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ רֵיקָם אַל תְּשִׁיבֵֽנוּ,

umiləfanekha malkenu reqam al təshivenu,

Be gracious to us, answer us, and hear our prayer,

חָנֵּֽנוּ וַעֲנֵֽנוּ וּשְׁמַע תְּפִלָתֵֽנוּ

chanenu va‘anenu ushma‘ təfilatenu

for You hear the prayer of every mouth of Your people Yisra’el, in mercy.

כִּי אַתָּה שׁוֹמֵֽעַ תְּפִלַּת כָּל פֶּה עַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרַחֲמִים:

ki atah shomea‘ təfilat kol peh ‘aməkha yisra’el bərachamim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who hears prayer.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ שׁוֹמֵֽעַ תְּפִלָּה:

barukh atah Adonai shomea‘ təfilah.

Take pleasure, Ineffable our G-d, in Your people Yisra’el, and attend to their prayer,

רְצֵה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ בְּעַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלִתְפִלָּתָם שְׁעֵה,

rətzeh Adonai elohenu bə‘aməkha yisra’el vəlitfilatam shə‘eh,

and return the service to the innermost place of Your house, and the fires of Yisra’el,

וְהָשֵׁב אֶת הָעֲבוֹדָה לִדְבִיר בֵּיתֶֽךָ וְאִשֵּׁי יִשְׂרָאֵל,

vəhashev et ha‘avodah lidvir betekha və’ishe yisra’el,

and receive their prayer swiftly, in love and favour,

וּתְפִלָּתָם מְהֵרָה בְּאַהֲבָה תְקַבֵּל בְּרָצוֹן

utfilatam məherah bə’ahavah təqabel bəratzon

and let the service of Your people Yisra’el always be a pleasure to You.

וּתְהִי לְרָצוֹן תָּמִיד עֲבוֹדַת יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמֶּֽךָ:

uthi ləratzon tamid ‘avodat yisra’el ‘amekha.

And let our eyes see Your return to Tziyon in mercy.

וְתֶחֱזֶֽינָה עֵינֵֽינוּ בְּשׁוּבְךָ לְצִיּוֹן בְּרַחֲמִים:

vətechezenah ‘enenu bəshuvəkha lətziyon bərachamim.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who returns Your presence to Tziyon.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הַמַּחֲזִיר שְׁכִינָתוֹ לְצִיּוֹן:

barukh atah Adonai hamachazir shəkhinato lətziyon.

We give thanks to You, for You are The Ineffable our G-d and G-d of our ancestors, for ever;

⢣ מוֹדִים אֲנַֽחְנוּ לָךְ שָׁאַתָּה הוּא ⡇ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד

⢣ modim anachnu lakh sha’atah hu ⡇ Adonai elohenu ve’lohe avotenu lə‘olam va‘ed

Rock of our life, shield of our deliverance, You are the One, from age to age.

צוּר חַיֵּֽינוּ מָגֵן יִשְׁעֵֽנוּ אַתָּה הוּא לְדוֹר וָדוֹר

tzur chayenu magen yish‘enu atah hu lədor vador

We shall thank You and tell Your praise —

נוֹדֶה לְּךָ וּנְסַפֵּר תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ

nodeh ləkha unsaper təhilatekha

for our life, held in Your hand,

עַל חַיֵּֽינוּ הַמְּסוּרִים בְּיָדֶֽךָ

‘al chayenu haməsurim bəyadekha

and for our souls, entrusted to You,

וְעַל־נִשְׁמוֹתֵֽינוּ הַפְּקוּדוֹת לָךְ

və‘al-nishmotenu hapəqudot lakh

and for Your wonders that are with us every day,

וְעַל־נִסֶּֽיךָ שֶׁבְּכָל־יוֹם עִמָּֽנוּ

və‘al-nisekha shebəkhol-yom ‘imanu

and for Your marvels and Your goodness at every hour,

וְעַל־נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ וְטוֹבוֹתֶֽיךָ שֶׁבְּכָל־עֵת,

və‘al-niflə’otekha vəṭovotekha shebəkhol-‘et,

evening, morning and noon.

עֶֽרֶב וָבֹֽקֶר וְצָהֳרָֽיִם,

‘erev vavoqer vətzohorayim,

You are the good, whose mercy has never ended,

הַטּוֹב כִּי לֹא־כָלוּ רַחֲמֶֽיךָ

haṭov ki lo-khalu rachamekha

and the merciful, whose kindnesses have never ceased,

וְהַמְרַחֵם כִּי לֹא־תַֽמּוּ חֲסָדֶֽיךָ,

vəhamərachem ki lo-tamu chasadekha,

for we have always hoped in You.

כִּי מֵעוֹלָם קִוִּינוּ לָךְ:

ki me‘olam qivinu lakh.

And for all of it, may Your Name be blessed, raised and lifted up, our Sovereign, always, for ever and ever.

וְעַל־כֻּלָּם יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִתְרוֹמַם וְיִתְנַשֵׂא שִׁמְךָ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ תָּמִיד לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:

və‘al-kulam yitbarakh vəyitromam vəyitnase shimkha malkenu tamid lə‘olam va‘ed.

And all the living shall thank You,

וְכֹל הַחַיִּים יוֹדֽוּךָ סֶּֽלָה

vəkhol hachayim yodukha selah

and praise and bless Your great Name in truth, for ever,

וִיהַלְלוּ וְיבָרְכוּ אֶת־שִׁמְךָ הַגָּדוֹל בְּאֱמֶת לְעוֹלָם

vihaləlu vəyvarəkhu et-shimkha hagadol bə’emet lə‘olam

for You are good — the G-d of our deliverance and our help, the good G-d.

כִּי טוֹב הָאֵל יְשׁוּעָתֵֽנוּ וְעֶזְרָתֵֽנוּ סֶֽלָה הָאֵל הַטּוֹב:

ki ṭov ha’el yəshu‘atenu və‘ezratenu selah ha’el haṭov.

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, whose Name is good and to whom thanks are fitting.

⢣ בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ⡇ יְיָ הַטּוֹב שִׁמְךָ וּלְךָ נָאֶה לְהוֹדוֹת:

⢣ barukh atah ⡇ Adonai haṭov shimkha ulkha na’eh ləhodot.

Set peace, goodness and blessing, life, grace, kindness and mercy upon us and upon all Your people Yisra’el.

שִׂים שָׁלוֹם טוֹבָה וּבְרָכָה חַיִים חֵן וָחֶֽסֶד וְרַחֲמִים עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמֶּֽךָ,

sim shalom ṭovah uvrakhah chayim chen vachesed vərachamim ‘alenu və‘al kol-yisra’el ‘amekha,

Bless us, our source, all of us as one, in the light of Your face;

בָּרְכֵֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ כֻּלָּֽנוּ כְּאֶחָד בְּאוֹר פָּנֶֽיךָ

barəkhenu avinu kulanu kə’echad bə’or panekha

for in the light of Your face You gave us, Ineffable our G-d,

כִּי בְאוֹר פָּנֶֽיךָ נָתַֽתָּ לָּֽנוּ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

ki və’or panekha natata lanu Adonai elohenu

a Torah of life and the love of kindness, justice and blessing, mercy, life and peace.

תּוֹרַת חַיִּים וְאַהֲבַת חֶֽסֶד וּצְדָקָה וּבְרָכָה וְרַחֲמִים וְחַיִּים וְשָׁלוֹם,

torat chayim və’ahavat chesed utzdaqah uvrakhah vərachamim vəchayim vəshalom,

And may it be good in Your eyes to bless us, and to bless all Your people Yisra’el,

וְטוֹב יִהְיֶה בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ לְבָרְכֵֽנוּ וּלְבָרֵךְ אֶת־כָּל־עַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל

vəṭov yihyeh bə‘enekha ləvarəkhenu ulvarekh et-kol-‘aməkha yisra’el

at every time and in every hour, with Your peace.

בְּכָל־עֵת וּבְכָל־שָׁעָה בִּשְׁלוֹמֶֽךָ.

bəkhol-‘et uvkhol-sha‘ah bishlomekha

Blessed are You, The Ineffable, who blesses the people Yisra’el with peace.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ הַמְבָרֵךְ אֶת־עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּשָּׁלוֹם:

barukh atah Adonai haməvarekh et-‘amo yisra’el bashalom.

May the words of my mouth and the thought of my heart be acceptable before You, Ineffable, my rock and my redeemer.

יִהְיוּ לְרָצוֹן אִמְרֵי פִי וְהֶגְיוֹן לִבִּי לְפָנֶֽיךָ יְיָ צוּרִי וְגוֹאֲלִי:

yihyu ləratzon imre fi vəhegyon libi ləfanekha Adonai tzuri vəgo’ali.

My G-d, guard my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking deceit.

אֱלֹהַי נְצוֹר לְשׁוֹנִי מֵרָע וּשְׂפָתַי מִדַּבֵּר מִרְמָה

elohay nətzor ləshoni mera‘ usfatay midaber mirmah

To those who curse me let my soul be silent, and let my soul be as dust to all.

וְלִמְקַלְלַי נַפְשִׁי תִדּוֹם וְנַפְשִׁי כֶּעָפָר לַכֹּל תִּהְיֶה

vəlimqallay nafshi tidom vənafshi ke‘afar lakol tihyeh

Open my heart to Your Torah, and let my soul pursue Your commandments.

פְּתַח לִבִּי בְּתוֹרָתֶֽךָ וְאַחֲרֵי מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ תִּרְדּוֹף נַפְשִׁי

pətach libi bətoratekha və’achare mitzvotekha tirdof nafshi

And all who rise against me and plan harm — swiftly undo their counsel and spoil their design.

וְכָל הַקָמִים וְהַחוֹשְׁבִים עָלַי רָעָה מְהֵרָה הָפֵר עֲצָתָם וְקַלְקֵל מַחֲשַׁבְתָּם:

vəkhol haqamim vəhachoshəvim ‘alay ra‘ah məherah hafer ‘atzatam vəqalqel machashavtam.

Act for the sake of Your Name;

עֲשֵׂה לְמַֽעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ,

‘aseh ləma‘an shəmekha,

act for the sake of Your right hand;

עֲשֵׂה לְמַֽעַן יְמִינֶֽךָ,

‘aseh ləma‘an yəminekha,

act for the sake of Your Torah;

עֲשֵׂה לְמַֽעַן תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ,

‘aseh ləma‘an toratekha,

act for the sake of Your holiness.

עֲשֵׂה לְמַֽעַן קְדֻשָּׁתֶֽךָ.

‘aseh ləma‘an qədushatekha

So that those You love may be delivered, let Your right hand save, and answer me.

לְמַֽעַן יֵחָלְצוּן יְדִידֶֽיךָ הוֹשִֽׁיעָה יְמִינְךָ וַעֲנֵֽנִי:

ləma‘an yechalətzun yədidekha hoshi‘ah yəminəkha va‘aneni.

May the words of my mouth and the thought of my heart be acceptable before You, Ineffable, my rock and my redeemer.

יִהְיוּ לְרָצוֹן אִמְרֵי פִי וְהֶגְיוֹן לִבִּי לְפָנֶֽיךָ יְיָ צוּרִי וְגוֹאֲלִי:

yihyu ləratzon imre fi vəhegyon libi ləfanekha Adonai tzuri vəgo’ali.

May the One who makes peace in the heights

עֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו

‘oseh shalom bimromav

make peace for us

הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵֽינוּ

hu ya‘aseh shalom ‘alenu

and for all Yisra’el

וְעַל כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל

və‘al kol-yisra’el

and for all who dwell on earth.

וְעַל כָּל יוֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל

və‘al kol yoshəve tevel

And say: Amen.

וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

və’imru amen.
